(Daily Mail)   Elementary school's "Gender Bender" day prompts complaints by parents who fear it will promote homosexuality. Girls will be boys and boys will be girls. It's a mixed up muddled up shook up world   (dailymail.co.uk) divider line 253

Come on, the school didn't think some parents would have a problem with this?

Dogs and cats throwing poop at each other!

A member of the school board however, hit back at the parents' criticism, saying they were 'using the kids for political purposes',"

The student council of an elementary school chose the theme for this day.  They're the ones with a political purpose.

Stupid parents have a homophobic issue with this theme. Loved the Kinks reference though.

And what purpose would that be? I think it's kind of creepy but I seriously doubt it's a plot to give their snowflakes teh gay.

Heh... We're so goddamn uptight in this country.

Dressing up in the opposite gender's clothing isn't going to make you gay... A transvestite? Maybe.

It's just clothes, you provincial clods. Lighten up.

I agree with the parents of these children. Why are young girls allowed to wear pants (trousers for the brits)? Clearly it's some attempt to masculinize young girls and set them on the slippery slope to lesbianism.

If a boy can't wear a skirt the clearly girls should not be allowed to wear trousers.

If the school was having an "eat watermelon" day, would white parents worry about their kids becoming black?

Challenging the establishment, of course.  This is an elementary and middle school; the student council is comprised of 7th & 8th graders who are just entering that phase.

After spending the day wearing nice silky panties, nylons, with garters and a sexy bra, I wonder how many...never mind.

2013-05-29 07:43:04 AM
I think if you really want to piss off the homophobes, then you have to go all-out. Not just a "gender bender" day. I'm talking full-on, Dr Frank-N-Furter, Fire Island gay. Make-up, garter belts and feathered boas required.

2013-05-29 07:44:00 AM
Gender Identity != sexual orientation

2013-05-29 07:46:41 AM
I'm not sure homosexuality can really be "promoted".

No amount of marketing is going to make someone gay.

2013-05-29 07:49:16 AM
erm, it's the Daily Mail.

in the real world you can be sure no one gives a toss

2013-05-29 07:49:53 AM
If only the school concentrated on frivolous things like teaching instead of bullshiat like this.

Ms Hernandez, who says she had never complained about a school event before, said: 'Every time something's bothering a liberal or an atheist, they come forward to complain. And somebody always has a problem with Easter or Christmas.'

2013-05-29 07:51:23 AM
Clearly, all the parents that complained are secretly attracted to transvestites

Finally, a day that celebrates what is truly great: me.

2013-05-29 07:53:01 AM
Why don't they just call it Sadie Hawkins Day, and forget this gender bending crap.

Gender bending like this doesn't promote homosexuality, it lampoons it and makes it harder for LGBTQO kids to come out.

2013-05-29 07:53:15 AM
Where would a kid with no siblings of the opposite sex even get clothes to participate in this?

2013-05-29 07:53:41 AM
Wait. Cant have holloween but they have gender bender? Maybe it is time to get rid of oublic schools. How about sticking to math, science, english....

2013-05-29 07:54:15 AM
Set this in a high school and it sounds like the premise of a hentai animation.

socodog: If only the school concentrated on frivolous things like teaching instead of bullshiat like this.

What leads you to believe the school isn't concentrating on teaching these kids?

2013-05-29 07:54:20 AM
I am betting that there is more outrage about the boys wearing skirts than the girls wearing trousers.

2013-05-29 07:54:47 AM
I don't think kids should be socially pressured to crossdress.  It's not fun for some people, just really awkward.  That said:  Hey, social conservatives, you can understand how uncomfortable your snowflake will feel if forced to act like a member of the opposite gender for a day?  Now think about what transgender kids go through when forced to live that way their entire lives!  Stop being assholes and let them be themselves!

Hell yeah. That's a skill I could actually use. Never did have an opportunity to use 10th grade math after 10th grade, but fabulosity is truly a life long lesson.

My mom would  have told me to go to school dressed however I felt like dressing, and to tell anyone who had a problem with it to fark off.

I for one am just happy that the schools have done such a good job teaching the basics-reading , writing and ciphering, that they have the time and resources to dedicate to this stuff.

School systems in the US midwest got rid of Halloween celebrations because their precious football team dressed up as cheerleaders every year without fail. Sure, they tried to cover it up with talk of the very real threat of satanism, demons, and orcs but everyone knows that they didn't want the star quarterback to realize he liked feeling pretty.

Questioning what?

If they're questioning their sexual orientation doesn't that just put them in 'B'?
