There are a shiatload of babies born every day, this is just two cases.  Who is to say that a set of mutations allowing us to be frost proof and subsist entirely off of lichen aren't going to be necessities a thousand years from now?

Being frost proof could be pretty useful. Freeze them and send them on a 1000 year voyage to the nearest star.

If the next one is born with seal fur, that's it for us.

Surprisingly, not.  Since it happened in a reportedly well to do suburb, I'm thinking somebody was getting a little on the side with the hired help.  And the hired help does not want to be sent back to North Korea.

Considering the reportedly appalling nature of their sex ed programs, it's possible the woman didn't even know she was pregnant.

This is why I eat GMO foods...so a thousand years from now my kid's kids will be gtg!

I watched the video that showed them cutting the pipe. I'm not normally a 'teary' person, but when they folded back the pipe from the face of the baby, I was close to crying. What a heartbreak of a story. I hope the baby will be fine.

You know, I've never even had children but I cannot understand how you could just dump a baby you carried for 9 mos. I would never, ever even consider doing that to puppies or kittens, etc.

What is the big deal? 90% of the Farkers here wouldn't blink an eye if a doctor sucked its brains out 2 minutes before the flush. One foot is still inside, hit it with the mallet. What is the difference?

I know this happened in the PRC, but I give this spiel for these types of stories:

Every single one of the 50 US states has some sort of Safe Haven Law, whereby you can drop a newborn off to a hospital, firehouse, or police station anonymously without fear of being prosecuted for child abandonment (or whatever).

I know this from experience:  The distaffbopper and I adopted a Safe Haven baby.  The littlebopper was left at the local hospital when he was about 5 hours old.  We first met him when he was 4 days old, got to stay in the hospital with him for a couple days, and then we took him home.  We finalized the adoption when he was 18 months old.   He's now a scary smart 9 year old.

So if you are pregnant, scared, and for whatever reason abortion isn't for you, consider leaving your child under your state's Safe Haven law.

Look for this sign:
