Tak the Hideous New Girl: You know what else would be awesome? If Chinese internet denizens would identify and shame those who traffic in ivory and rhino horn. Maybe identify those who skin animals alive and keep bears in cages for their bile.

Hey!  Rhino and elephant horn and tiger penis make men more virile!

Hey!  So do these pills called Viagra and Cialis!  Virtually without fail, you endangered species hunting sacks of shiat!

God Is My Co-Pirate: Andromeda: Well one thing's for sure, that kid's graffiti will now last longer than anything else he does in life.

When in Egypt, I was fascinated by the Victorian-Era (and once or twice even ancient Greek) graffiti you saw on the temples just because those who wrote them are long gone but their names are still there.  I feel the same when you randomly see it in old caves or what not- I don't think I would ever scrawl my name on anything, but I certainly understand the urge.

Sure, and tourism definitely meant something different back then. My grandmother, like other Brits of that era on their European tours, actually brought back a couple of chunks of the Acropolis.

they say of the acropolis where the parthenon is

I really wish this would happen. Maybe as more people become aware.

I don't think I will ever be able to unsee that..

Assimilate This: indarwinsshadow: Let's get this straight. A 15 year old "boy" cried all night because he defaced the temple of Luxor? Exactly, what kind of retard assholes are they raising in China.
I've lived 46 years. I've yet to meet any 15 year who ever regretted any kind of nasty sh*t they've done. Most 15 year olds should be drafted and made to serve military service for 3 years. They're not much good for anything else.. They're idiots.

You're thinking of American kids.  He was Chinese, and probably had some sense of honor and personal responsibiilty and duty to his family and country instilled in him from day 1.  When his lapse was revealed, it brought this all back to him.

Do you think he's a shiatty driver and owns a dry cleaners as well? Racist stereotypes are stereotypes, even if you think you're praising "them". But hey, at least your narrow-minded, bigoted views gave you a chance to attach your personal prejudices to a kid you have never met and it allowed you to put down American kids as well so it's a win/win for a self-righteous racists that gets to pretend he's better than those around him.

Feel free to take however you want if it makes you feel like you're better than me.

Yes, you're the victim here. You are reinforcing racist stereotypes and putting down an entire nation's youth, but somehow you're the victim.

Heh, second time I've read about the "human flesh search" of China. It reminds me of the human wave attack.

It just sounds so primal and simple, even the name sounds primitive.

Too much pressure for him to take? The "introverted" (read: socially retarded frakup) nimrod is going to an hero over this. Either that or he'll be scar(r)ed for life. You don't deface something that has been around for millennia and get away with it. It's a crime against humanity, and such a sacrilige carries a heavy consequence.

If I got caught defacing a world landmark when I was 15 I probably would have cried too. Not because of the shame or guilt, more on account of the unholy beat down I'd have received from my old man.

Why is everyone so worried? 30 mins later the paint was gone and the temple had to take a tremendous crap.

Teknowaffle: unlikely: "The boy has known about it since Friday and cried all night. He has had to be moved around because reporters rushed to their house for interviews," the Modern Express reporter who talked with the parents told the Global Times. The father called on China's netizens to leave his son alone: "The kid has a good academic record, but is a little introverted. This is too much pressure for him to take."

He vandalized the temple at Luxor.

I don't care if his precious feelings are hurt, I think he should be sent back to Egypt for trial.
Maybe Egypt is really lenient on crimes against their cultural heritage.

I would argue Ancient Egyptian ruins are their archeological heritage. The only cultural heritage in regards to them is selling crappy souvenirs to visitors.

Well, shiat celebrating the deification of pharaohs in Egypt sounds as much "cultural heritage" as those Buddha statues were part of Afghanistan.

Nimrod? He's a king who rebelled against god? Well, I guess if he defaced a deity at Luxor, then yes, he's a Nimrod.

/was at the Luxor week before last. Is a nice casino.

It sparked significant outrage, which led to a massive "human flesh search" for the boy's identity.

Interesting choice of words. I'm looking forward to a follow up story.

Good detective work, Chinese equivalent of Anonymous (Chinonymous)!

Assuming that:
1. The person who defaced the temple used his own real name, and
2. Of everyone in the world named Ding Jinhao, the one y'all tracked down is the right one.

basemetal: No, you get caught doing something like that, you deserve the hell headed your way.

Which Egyptian hell is that?
