Yeah, things that are set to expire can never, ever be renewed.  Just ask my landlord and my insurance company.

Fark both sides in Syria. Neither side actively engaged in fighting is worth saving, and DEFINITELY shouldn't have control of the government.

Any international aid should be directed at the innocents caught in the crossfire.

I have always felt quite a lot of sympathy for Viktor Bout. He hasn't done anything that US, Russian, British, or French officials haven't done. Hell, the volume he was moving was farking paltry compared to the legitimate trade in arms. His only real sins were trying to be his own boss and attracting the attention Farah and Braun.

Just remember get your cash up front.  If your selling to the rebels, send the bill to Saudi Arabia or Qatar.  If your arming Asad, send the bill to Iran or Russia.  Don't forget to pad the order with a huge shipping and handling fee as getting them in the country can be problematic.

We're talking about the Middle East. They've been killing each other for millennia. Nothing we do is going to stop it. All it's going to do is make the side that wins powerful, and the side that loses hate us. And eventually the winning side will deal with all of the bs and come to hate us. Either way, we'll be at square one.

Actually, Israel doesn't mind the killing too much as it is culling extreamists by other muslims.  A militant killed there is a militant not firing rockets from Gaza or Southern Lebanon. Now if they are moving weapons to Hezbollah in southern Lebanon, that is where we have seen the IDF step in to stop the weapons movement by blowing them up.  The sad truth is the US, Israel, and most other nations are perfectly happy to have the Syrian civil war go on for many years killing individuals who may otherwise attack these nations.  The war as it stands now is an A-hole magnet and as much as it sucks for those living there, it is in most nations best interests to let it go on for as long as it can. Give aid to refugees and help them relocate, but let Iran and Hezbollah fight with Al Qaeda affiliates backed by Saudi and Qatar cash.

No way. Western military advisers always say Islamic fundamentalists have terrible aim (preferring to shoot first and let Allah guide their bullets rather than using gun-sights), but they can't be regularly missing Assad troops by that much.

Do what you can to keep them fighting.  As long as they are occupied fighting each other they don't meddle elsewhere.  Downside is when one side thinks they are losing then they try to draw other countries into the conflict.

God damn that is such a good movie

"Sir! Sir, may I interest you in the shoulder fired S-37 surface-to-air missle? It's the old Chinese model. Not so effective against modern military aircraft but deadly if used against a commercial airliner. Giving them away at 850"

I strongly feel we must leave the arms embargo in place. Nothing good can come from these FSA terrorist having USA weapons.

Arms have been going into Syria for a very long time via Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
And Israel has been quite handy in preventing risks like stopping Syrian weapons reaching the terrorist organization Hezbullah.

No no no.   Much better to position artillery batteries here,  here and here.   Then begin a rolling barrage with the Defilers overshooting the Vindicator divisions.
