(WANE Ft. Wayne)   Tony Kanaan gave a comatose girl a good luck medallion 9 years ago. She and her family wore it during surgeries and on race days. This year, she returned the medallion to Kanaan - who had it in his pocket as he crossed the finish line   (wane.com) divider line 36

Ask any racer, any real racer. It doesn't matter if you win by an inch or a mile; winning's winning.

Ah, the Indy 500. It's always at this time I miss Indianapolis. Though at least in Canada, I wan watch the race and not have to deal with the blackouts. I also miss Bob and Tom's commentary.

Big weekend for @TonyKanaan - wins #Indy500, AND "Fast 6" performs very well at the box office.

IRC > NASCAR?

Don't they both make left turns all day?

I'll stick with F1 and LM...

In IRC's case, NOPE.

/ Most exciting finish to any race in years, only to be overtaken by the Indy Lights at Indy a couple of days ago.

I can relate. My racing idol, Rick Mears, got his 4th Indy win under yellow. He tied the record for most wins, true, but it kinda took a bit away from the accomplishment.

TK made a good move with 3 or 4 to go that won him the race. It's not like it started raining, or he made the pass and had it called back.

That would certainly explain why he wasn't attacked by tigers during the race.

2013-05-27 02:16:22 PM
It was a helluva race

And y'know what? I'm OK with how Tony won. He lost the 500 too many times due to the same circumstances, so it was poetic justice for him to win via yellow. That said, he was in position to win it anyway.

Who doesn't like Tony Kanaan?
Yesterday was the best start to finish race I've seen. Too bad about the yellow finish. With racing like that, you're hoping no one crashes.

What they DON'T tell you is, Tony Kanaan is notorious for giving the comatose good luck medallions... so far the count is in the hundreds. To date, this patient is the only one who woke up. Most are still comatose. Mostly...

This ain't Nascar. There has to be something left that's sacred. They've cut the entire month of May down to 2 weeks, and by gawd, if The Greatest Spectacle in Racing finishes under yellow, then it finishes under yellow.

So she was the good luck one. I bet once he found out she was the only survivor, he sent some goons to get that one back.

Never heard of a medallion, what kind of sex act is that?  Is it like a pearl neckless, just all in one spot?

I watched most of the monaco gran prix and most of the indy. Indy was much more entertaining.
It's not how many different directions you turn that makes a race fun to watch, its passing and lead changes.
