I would have loved to see the look on their faces when they ran out to a "Dude, Where's My Car?" situation.

"One member of staff then slipped out of the back door to raise the alarm. He saw their car with the engine running and drove it round the corner out of sight."

So, there were people with guns, and he purposefully moved their getaway vehicle, drastically increasing the chances it would turn into a hostage situation? Brilliant.

Just give them the cash and let them walk away.

Figured they were stopped after they ate some Burger King and then had to spend the next 20 mins on the toilet.

/At least that's what BK does to me anymore.

2013-05-27 12:45:44 PM
He wasn't even supposed to be there today!

Also, yeah, dude's getting fired. Policy in most franchise/chain restaurants is to give the robber what they want, then call the cops.

I used to work at a bank, and that was what we were explicitly told to do - give them what they want and get them out the door. Don't do anything that makes them stick around longer and increases the chances someone will get hurt.

No point in getting shot over a few dollars of Burger King's money.

Unless of course you mean the deductible.

This that and those. Insurance plus $100-200 max = no reason to do anything other than give, get them out the door and lock it behind them for minimum wage.

There is nothing heroic about risking one's life to protect the boss's profit.

Well, if you're going to get fired either way (And I guarantee you that he would have been fired even if he did everything the "right way"), you might as well foil the crime.

What could be better than a free two-fer from the prosecutor's POV?

I can see how you think it'd increase the odds of it turning into a hostage situation. Perhaps directly stealing their car wasn't the safest thing to do.

Why not pop the hood and pull a spark plug or two out? Or slash a tire? Damage their car enough that they might crash or be forced to stop on the drive home, but not enough that they wont leave burger king.

Personally, I wouldve waited around back with a deep tray of boiling fry oil. They come round the corner- WOOSH! they get it in the face. I take a drag of my cigarette while theyre rolling on the ground clutching at their faces, before pausing to say "I guess you didint have it... your way". Then I flick the smoke into the oil slick and they burst into flames. Patrons flush out of the restaurant cheering for Baron Krelve and hoist me on their shoulders and parade me around the block. When the sheriff shows up he makes me an honourary deputy and his wife gives me a HJ.

It's Stockton so the robbers should have expected a running car to not be there when they got back...

Rather be thought to be spineless than to be shot.

Not Cool Story, Bro: I was robbed at gunpoint about 8 years ago. To thid say, I will sometimes close my eyes and see the barrel of the farking gun that was used. I gave them what they wanted then hit the silent alarm after they left, since I couldn't reach it while they were there. I collapsed into a total sobbing mess when I got home to my wife and infant daughter.

So...yeah, I may not have a spine, according to you, but ya know what? I'm alive. So, go on and use that supposed spine of yours to stand up to someone robbing you at gunpoint.

In this case I agree, just fork over the loot.

You're out what, couple hundred bucks to totally defuse a violent armed felon(s) situation?

Smart buy.

Good point.  Seriously, I imagine most ITGs are 12-year-olds or basement dwellers who get their knowledge of the real world by watching action-adventure movies...

It was slick. They were inside and he was outside. Once they left all they had was to run.
