(Hawaii 24/7)   What do you want to be remembered for? Two and a half years ago, two retired doctors saw a list of the best burger joints in every state and DC, and decided it called for an epic road trip   (hawaii247.com) divider line 34

Yeah. I'm not going to Fife for burgers. Red Mill near the zoo or Lunchbox Laboratory downtown (or Bellevue) for me, thanks.

Well I'm not sure what I want to be remembered for, but I know it's something more important than eating hamburgers....

At Char-Grill in Raleigh,

It's fun to watch them flame up the grill, all the smoke and drama, and yes it smells great, but somehow the burgers end up just Meh.

Yeah, it should be embarrassing how much better Cookout can do than Char-Grill for almost half the money.

They were their Connecticut pick. It's a local, but famous delicacy. It really is good stuff.

Um, was that article written by a kindergartener?

FTA:"It's bette than stamp collecting. Maybe I'll start my own adventure. Maybe I'll do shakes."

(I'm pretty sure he alreadly "shakes" - much like Micael J. Fox does)

And then there's this:
"After a Hawaii vacation and a Village Burger, the couple is ready for the next quest.
"Oh, knowing me," Joe said, "I'll find something else ..."

Maybe a new wife? About 30 years younger?

/Yes, I'm going to heck for that last comment.

There are folks in this country that would like to be able to just have a burger.

Red Mill's bacon has the texture of tree bark and LL is for hipster douchebags who want to be seen buying their $15 burgers. I'll take the trip to Fife, thanks.

just don't go through drive through, if they haven't fixed it by now, it is backwards. The window is on the passenger side, not the driver side.

But yah, good times.

Has any Farker been to that burger joint in Hawaii?  They're using good ingredients, but is the result worth the trip?

In 2008, my then 16 year old son saw a show on the Food Network about regional BBQs across the country that turned into a 10 day, 5000 mile romp from PA to Lexington, NC, to Atlanta GA, to Memphis, TN, to NOLA (because gumbo), to Dallas, to Abilene, to KC, to Sioux Falls, to Chicago (because pizza), and back to PA. At Rendezvous in Memphis, we were interviewed by the Man vs. Food crew who were filming the second episode of the show that night. They questioned us about it for 20 minutes then when they heard it was inspired by the Food Network, they killed the lights and the camera and walked away. They did use about 6 seconds of the clip on the show (and on the Top 100 Places to Chow Down show) and seeing ourselves on TV 5 years later is still pretty cool.

/Wife was only a little pissed that on our 25th anniversary I was eating pizza in Chicago while she was home eating a tuna sandwich...
//I brought home leftovers and all was forgiven

So "eating a tuna sandwich" is the new slang for what wives do while their husbands are on the road?  I have a hard time keeping up with all the new slang the kids use nowadays...
