Where wolf: This. This is why I hate Peter "Dreamkiller" Moleneux.  Fable and it's 8 hours of gameplay.

Personally I liked that about Fable.  I have a job and a life, so I only get 8 hours to play a game and this one skipped (most) of the needless grind that some other RPG's have.

WippitGuud: whither_apophis: Expect a call from a guy named Centuri

I realize the movie is 25 year old, I realize it's not the most well-known sci-fi movie in existence, but if you're going to mention a character from it, at least get Centari's name right.

Centauri. So we both f'd it.

But it was sold as a super replay game, where every decision matters. But instead we got generic good /evil decisions with no gray. And for 8 hours of play, I expect to pay $20, not $50.

It was a bait and switch. I even did a midnight opening for the game and was done the next day.

Labrat407: I loved Populous and wish it was out on a tablet platform.

It's on GoG and it's DosBox, so you could probably get it running.

Too bad, I saw Molyneux and thought another Black and White was on the way.

I'll settle for another Populous.

/still has the Populous demo CD for some strange, sick reason

It's decent enough, but gets muddy in the middle. Not enough struggle for the protagonist for my liking. And I had to continually shake the feeling I was reading a crappier version of Snow Crash.

bbfreak: Oh look, another Subby who doesn't understand what the hero tag is for.

For real. If anything there needs to be a Villian tag. I wonder what the nimrods who spent days, weeks, months, or years on the game think about some 18 year old who solved it in an hour?

Where wolf: DerAppie: Beta Tested: So, let me get this straight, the reward for tapping on a screen is a job as a game designer for Godus?

I call total publicity stunt, no way they are giving up design control to some random schmo off the street.

Already better than Fable.

I like his games. The secret to that is to absolutely never, ever pay any attention at all to anything he says about them prior to release. He always comes out with huge, ambitious ideas for games that end up being completely impractical and impossible to implement within any reasonable timeframe and budget. So they end up being pared down and losing most of what is promised.

The thing is, they are good ideas and more often than not what is left is still interesting. If you look at his earlier games such as Populous, Syndicate and Theme Park, they are all innovative and satisfying. Of course, back then he wasn't talking about them in detail at the beginning of development so we never knew what was cut along the way.
