Yeah, that was a nice stroll down memory lane.  Now she's just developing a nice meth face.

Also, you know what's really sexy?  A nice personality.  Doesn't really matter how good looking you are if you're a total coont.

Great Janitor: robohobo: Great Janitor: Yeah Amanda Bynes, insult Rihanna because she was punched by Chris Brown.  I'm guessing you're finished making movies or doing tv shows.  I mean, you may have been planning on something, but a statement like that is probably going to cause a boycott from Rihanna fans as well as groups who help out battered women.

To be fair, Rihanna went BACK to him. Because they always do.

I didn't know about that part, however, my sister is married to a jackass who has beaten her (black eyes, hit her with objects, told my mom that she better be glad he didn't put my sister's head through a door, and my sister is still with him).  I've never said it was because she has a face that makes you want to put it through a door.  I blame him for being an abusive asshole.  I don't talk to her because after I witnessed him hitting her and called the police, she turned around and told the police that it didn't happen and that I was making it up and then told the police that I was a special ed student as a kid and lack the ability to tell playing from reality.  I stopped talking to her that day (April 2004) and aside from the annual "Happy Birthday", I don't talk to her at all.  I want nothing to do with her any more.  I was there to take her to work that morning, she and her husband were fighting and she put me into that fight, he hits her, I call the police, she tells the police that I'm retarded in order to cover for her scumbag of a husband, I look at her and the last thing I said to her was "If that cocksucker puts you into the hospital, remember that I tried to stop it and you put him before me.  I don't care what he does to you, you will never get any sympathy out of me so long as you are with him.  Find your own way to work, I'm going home."

It took me too long to escape a man who fractured my face, but I finally did, and I am never going back. I was an idiot, and when it finally did happen most people were in shock. He was a consummate actor and I was great at hiding it. And in re: women who go back, they generally do because they are in no position to help themselves. Shelters prohibit things like pet and large amounts of belongings, and no one wants to walk away and leave everything that they own in the hands of an abusive prick. I am not saying that it is right, but the myth that walking out will automatically resolve all of the problems of an abusive relationship is bullshiat. There is way more than getting away; there is the issue of money and clothing, food, and not to mention more complex issues like belongings, pets, and the like. Oh and many abusers will track you down. Fun stuff.

Never understood the mentality of an abused woman that stays where she is.  I'm sure it has something to do with nervousness about having stability or something, but it still never made much sense to me.  ...

People (men and women) don't just meet someone and immediately start beating the crap out of them. There is a process of breaking that person down psychologically before they get to the point that they won't do anything when they are beaten.  Abusers are predators, and they know how to spot vulnerable people.  If you're a strong independent person, you may not understand what happens to a battered spouse psychologically.  Be thankful, I say.

I picture this scene:

A dark alley in New York City.

Lindsey Lohan is standing in the alley, looking around nervously, tapping her foot. She checks her watch, looks around some more, and checks it again. Suddenly,  Amanda Bynes comes out of the shadows and says, "Psst! Hey! I'm here."

"Where the f♥ck have you been? We can't get caught, and every second makes it more likely. We're both famous. People will recognize us instantly and use their iPhone to send pictures to Instagram if they see us!" says Lindsey, firmly.

"I know! I'm sorry. I was being followed by a cop. All the cops are out to get me. Stupid white cops all want to slap my vagina. Why won't they leave... my vagina... alone?" whines Amanda.

Lindsey rolls her eyes. "Shut up about your pussy and get over here!"

Amanda gets really close to Lindsey. They both look around to make sure nobody's watching.

"Okay," Lindsey starts, "Here's a gram of crack, a bag of weed, and the name of a good wig shop. You have to remember: Be high profile! They'd better be talking about you on Facebook, Twitter, and TMZ this week."

"Right. Got it." replies Amanda, "And I should act crazy, right?"

Lindsey gives her a sidelong, condescending look. "Yeah. 'Act'crazy. Right."

"And if I get arrested again?"

"Don't worry. I've got your back. My lawyer will send someone to take care of it. We'll spin it on to the news, get some more coverage there, and really draw attention to you and away from me."

Amanda frowns, "What about the money? And the promise"

Lindsey rolls her eyes again, "Jesus, yes... You'll get the whole 50 million and a co-starring role in my next big movie if you can successfully divert the media from talking about me for a whole month."

Amanda smiles. Her left eye twitches. "And Drake?"

Lindsey sighs, "Yes, and you'll get Drake. It's no problem. I can arrange for it. Those rap people are all under the control of their record companies, and if my friends at Universal tell him to do something, he'll do it. He knows-- like all those musicians-- that he's only famous as long as the record company lets him be famous. As soon as they drop him and replace him, he becomes a memory. So yes, he'll be yours."

"YES!" shouts Amanda, "And then I will have him in my vagina! MY vagina! Hee heee heeee haa hee!"

"Shut up!" barks Lindsey, "We're still at risk here! If any reporters find out about this, we'll both be in trouble, and we might even have to serve jail sentences longer than a day!"

"Eww! No! We're famous! They can't make us do that!" squeals Amanda.

"Yes they can! Wesley Snipes is still in prison! It can happen!" says Lindsey.

Amanda tilts her head quizzically, "Who's Wesley Snipes?"

"My point, exactly." Lindsey says, matter-of-factly. "He used to be super-famous. Now... He's gone!"

Amanda screams. Lindsey covers Amanda's mouth.

"Now go. Make certain they don't talk about my problems and I'll make sure that vagina of yours has more Black dicks in it than a community swimming pool."

"I don't get it." shrugs Amanda.

"Nevermind. Go!" says Lindsey, pushing Amanda back out into the street. "And make sure you blame everything on someone else!"

"I have the perfect person in mind!" says Amanda as she gets out her iPhone to send a tweet to Rihanna.

As much as I would have loved to do that, I did not want to sink to his level.  He's a thug and a bully.  He hits her, I hit him, we both go to jail.  My sister had promised that morning that if I hit him she'd call the police.  So instead, I would have rather called the police, send him to jail, and let him explain to his parents why he was arrested and needed bail money.  Let him go before a judge for beating his wife.  Let him explain to anyone who interviews him for a job that he spent time in jail for beating his wife.  In the long run, calling the cops and getting that prick charged for spousal abuse does more damage than beating him personally.

That's a sad story and I'm sorry to hear it.  I know how painful it is to let a loved one go when they refuse your help.  You have to let them go or they can drag you down with them, emotionally speaking.  But try to remember she is a victim of his abuse not only in body but in mind and spirit as well.  Her choice to stay with him is not a rational one, and it's not a personal statement about you.  I understand needing to let her go, but I hope you decide to leave the door open and at least let her know you're there if she decides to flee one day.  She may come around and need someone to help her yet.

A lot of gorgeous women are, well, gorgeous obviously but also have this barely concealed simmering resentment, call it a form of misanthropy maybe, for everyone they deem lower down the totem pole of beautiful people. I've got caught in the draft of a few and now I can see it in the eyes from afar, they don't like us normal folk, hell they probably don't like anyone, and as such I'm happy to let them be, no matter how beautiful they are, they're just trouble.

Well lets see, Rihanna isn't that attractive and clearly she has some screws lose because she went back to Chris (or her song S&M is more a personal ad as opposed to just a song).  On the other hand Rihanna has a fairly stable career.

Bynes looked good in her photo shoots, although those of course she's been photoshopped more than an Iranian missile launcher.  She's now ugly, crazy, and is carrying god knows what thanks to her trip to rock bottom.

/Bynes is like Lilo, nice enough in jpeg format, something I want nothing to do with in real life

karmachameleon: But try to remember she is a victim of his abuse not only in body but in mind and spirit as well.  Her choice to stay with him is not a rational one

We all have way's we're irrational.  Some people want to be a victim, are damaged(or malformed) goods before the "abuse" comes along.  Some of these people almost literally ask for it, and at that point it's not quite abuse, as it's about as consensual as it can get.

Most times it is maybe sad and unjust, but sometimes that "abused" person is no different from a modern housewife who doesn't take to the women's lib movement.  Sometimes, an individual just does not want to conform to the projection of what others think they should do or be like.

That's the odd wonder of belonging to a society of widely variable individuals.  Some people actually do like what we find distasteful.  Masochism is along the same lines as sadism, yet, one is deemed almost normal, an extension of normal dominance traits, while the other is always painted as a victim, disturbed, sick, dysfunctional.

You can try an intervention, we do know about stockholm syndrome and such, but at what point do you sit back and say, more power to you if that's what you really want?

Almost never apparently, because someone else always "knows" what is best for other people, their deviance is the desire to meddle constantly. Me, I find that activity just as irrational, even delusional.  You don't know what that person desires, you just live by some false ideal of how "normal" people should live, some unwritten/unproved/arbitrary standard mold.

Bynes may be crazy, but her Rihanna slam is more the result of a typical bloated celebrity ego. When a celeb decides to say something stupid, whether it's about another celeb, politics, immunizations or whatever, they just have to attach their name and face to their ramblings because THE WORLD NEEDS TO BENEFIT FROM THEIR WISDOM, and if they aren't properly accredited, how will the committee know where to send the Nobel Prize? They could save themselves a hell of a lot of trouble if they'd just learn from the rest of us and post their more inflammatory comments anonymously on the Internet.

/Hillary and Ann Coultier are secret lovers, Sesame Street and Barney were designed by the CIA to indoctrinate poor children into becoming furries, and free flu shots are really injections of cream filling that will make us more appetising when the lizard people finally start the harvest.
