That was my approach with Moose Dry Ice.

Perfect.

We used to take 50 to parties, because nobody would steal it. As mainstream beers go, it's not too bad either.
I remember they made Black Label cool about 15 years ago with massive amounts of advertising. Maybe they can do the same for cinquante.

We did the same with Carling O'Keefe back in the day.  And I remember Black Label being cool back in the 80's before the whole Ice thing.

Beer is the most mainstream of liquors. I predict a move towards some obscure wine none of us have heard of. Or maybe saki.

They should go to Busch light. That nasty shiat will never become mainstream.

Natty Light.  Then they would have the added irony of drinking frat beer.

serial_crusher: pretty much any IPA, right?

No, it has to be a "craft" beer, preferably from a local/regional brewery where your brother's girlfriend's neighbor works, and it has to have "Dog", "Head", or "Fish" in the name.

2013-05-26 01:18:41 PM
Okay, I'll say it.  For a stretch PBR was excellent in terms of price to taste.  The company overhauled the recipe, got in touch with the original brewmasters and even managed to win some awards while keeping the beer dirt cheap.  Then in 2010 they were bought out, moved to LA, and have since going back to circling the drain.

White people already love Trader Joe's.  I'm not sure that "Name Tag" will be ironic enough for them (or whatever), but it's cool cause it's so damn cheap and kinda not all that great...

Black Label was actually pretty good until they changed the recipe about 20 years ago. Now it tastes just like any other swill.

The cheap but decent beer now is Lakeport Pilsner.

Hipster has enough definitions to actually be in a dictionary. Hipster has (3) definitions

1)Poor people trying to be fashionable
2)People in upper economic classes trying to emulate being in a lower economic class as a fashion choice
3)Someone I hate doing something I don't like that effects no one

Beer snobs who drink IPAs that are like 8% and take notes on the 'flowery' aftertaste are worse than hitler hipsters.

It's actually pretty easy to define hipster generally, It's just hard in the specifics. Hipster is a derivation of scenester, which can be quickly defined as someone who joins a subculture because they think it is cool rather than actually embracing the things that sub culture is about. A hipster expands this beyond just joining a subculture. So the general definition of a hipster is: Someone who does things because they think it is hip rather than actually caring or knowing about that thing.

The specifics of it are hard because what may be considered hip is fluid. That results in hipsters having an amalgamation of hip things that don't make much sense together like someone with a PBR tattoo, handlebar mustache, and prominently displayed iPhone who is reading a Chuck Palahniuk book in a Starbucks.

Saw it and ordered it about 2 years ago. it was a tall boy.  Just wanted to see if it was a disgusting as I remember. My drunk uncles pounded schlitz and strohs. I believe both are made by the same company that brews PBR

Fort Pitt. Not sure if they even still make it, but it would surely fit the bill.

2013-05-26 01:41:17 PM
In Atlanta High Life pretty much took over about 3-4 years ago.  PBR prices went up, but a draft High Life is still about $2.50.  Some places you can still find a PBR tallboy for $3.00.
