We get an F1 thread and nobody's here? Damn, I even got up early to see this live. Someone mentioned a Breakfast (Monaco) Lunch (Indy) Dinner (NASCAR) schedule for today, and they couldn't be anymore right.

That was a scary incident with the car that caught on fire.

I can't really be the only person who woke up for this. Monaco is one of my favorite races of the year!

2013-05-26 08:25:06 AM
Finally got the stream thrown to my TV from the computer since my local affiliate decided not to air the race.

2013-05-26 08:25:15 AM
Gah! I just woke up. Thank goodness the DVR was set.

2013-05-26 08:27:33 AM
Good morning (west coast here) gonna be a great day of racing , but I gotta get some coffee in me now....

2013-05-26 08:29:09 AM
Ah, didn't realize the Westies would have to get up even earlier than I.

pacochu: Finally got the stream thrown to my TV from the computer since my local affiliate decided not to air the race.

What dumb affiliate would do that? Heck, even here they're showing it.

Mercedes had a private test with Pirelli recently. RBR are upset about it.

Mercedes had better hope Ferrari doesn't protest.

2013-05-26 08:30:43 AM
Haha, the guy said "best of luck to IndyCar later on" but no best of luck to NASCAR tonight?

2013-05-26 08:31:02 AM
Is it bad that after streaming one race from Sky Sports earlier in the year I don't want to go back to NBC?

nascarcasm @nascarcasm

As today we are all one motorsports family, as a favor, NASCAR should dispatch some of their many black helicopters to Monaco.

Hey, NBC at least does pretty well on this, getting foreign guys who know what they're doing and so far every commercial has had a side-by-side.

NASCAR Wonka @NASCAR_Wonka

David Hasselhoff: they keep spelling "tire" as "tyre" over here - I should probably start a class called "Spelling with the Hoff."

One of the two best days of racing in the year, but Pirelli is doing their best to take the excitement away...

According to Will Buxton, Ferrari had the same deal earlier in the year. If true, Ferrari won't whine.

Those chicanes aren't doing the "tyre"s any favo(u)rs today

I'm sitting in a hotel lobby in Charleston, SC watching this race. At first,  was trying to drown out the noise, but now I'm interested. Hopefully the girlfriend will continue sleeping a little while longer.

KPRC in Houston, TX. Not exactly a small population here.

Considering the state of Texas is heavily invested in CotA, that's a terrible decision.  I hope someone from the network reminds them in time for the end of the season.

Ah yes, they were the ones that put Conan O'Brien's old show on way later in the night then it was supposed to be. He mentioned it all the time on the show. He even traveled to Houston to stay up to watch his show on KPRC.

That was a neat graphic.

HOLY SHIAT huge crash

2013-05-26 08:43:21 AM
Ops Massa

2013-05-26 08:43:23 AM
Oh hello. crunch

2013-05-26 08:43:24 AM
Oh, fark, Massa into the wall.

2013-05-26 08:43:26 AM
Massa has crashed...again!

2013-05-26 08:43:40 AM
Safety Car!

 Massa, Wall.  Wall, Massa.

2013-05-26 08:44:47 AM

cameroncrazy1984: Massa has crashed...again!

Damn that is damn near the same way he did it yesterday.  Same damn place as well.

2013-05-26 08:44:50 AM
Luckily he hit the tires instead of the guardra..oh no wait he hit the guardrail first. Safety car!

2013-05-26 08:45:07 AM
That's a lot of debris left on super soft tires for no safety car...

/nevermind

2013-05-26 08:46:06 AM
How will they even know the safety car is out? It's Monaco.

2013-05-26 08:47:29 AM
Crofty just said this was the first safety car of the season?

2013-05-26 08:48:28 AM
Kudos to TSN for going side by side during this caution.

2013-05-26 08:48:37 AM
Is the Safety Car sufficiently slow running that teams might be able to run a little bit richer on the fuel?

2013-05-26 08:48:39 AM
Hamilton has got to be pissed that the safety car released the Red Bulls.

2013-05-26 08:49:03 AM
Red Bull and Ferrari have filed a protest that the safety car is not using Pirellis and thus has an unfair tire degradation advantage.

It is.

The decision was made not to air the Monaco Grand Prix on KPRC because we screwed over other NBC programming in the past. We apologize to anyone who is missing the race and even though F1 has a race here in Texas later this year we probably won't show that either. Here is a link to watch it online. It will also replay on NBC Sports because our priority is local news even on Sunday mornings when nobody's watching us. We are KPRC -- YOUR NEWS STATION! Seriously.

good_2_go: Kudos to TSN for going side by side during this caution.

So is NBC. Every break has had side-by-side..... something Fox or ESPN will never be able to do.

2013-05-26 08:50:28 AM
I wonder if we'll get a protest from Mercedes that the Red Bulls were not under a controlled pace when they went around the safety car.

2013-05-26 08:50:41 AM
Is the team going to come out and say there was no mechanical failure again today blaming the wreck on massa?

2013-05-26 08:51:21 AM
He hit the SAME PLACE yesterday? I think that qualifies as "the curse", for sure.

2013-05-26 08:52:09 AM
You know the guy in that safety car is loving EVERY second of this.

It's Doucheton. CotA is in Austin, so it's hardly even a factor. It's about a 4-hour drive. We're getting the race here in San Antonio.

Also, CotA is a beautiful facility, and the elevation changes are much more dramatic than you'd anticipate.

How were sightlines for photography without credentials?  Swinging by for the combined ALMS/WEC weekend...

And Charlie has allowed the field to overrun Van Der Garde.

Look through r/formula1; somewhere last year a user posted a driver-level pic of the first hill from the starting grid.  Looking from that perspective, the aerial views do not do it justice.  It's more Spa than Spa.
