Based on a movie that tries very hard to get you to like it, but fails on every level. The only part of the movie worth anything is the "Swinging on a Star" heist.

I can't even imagine the video game.

I rented it once. It was as bad, if not worse, than any game on that list.

After Ender's Game comes out at a movie, you know they're going to make a video game based on that: "Ender's Game: The Movie: The Game".

Based on the movie?  So does M. Bison eventually die of cancer in the game too?

I always assumed that was community service for a DUI or something.

I wonder if somebody made a supercut of just his parts. "For me, it was a Tuesday" is one of the all-time greatest villain speeches.

i purchased Street Fighter: The Movie: The Game the day it released on Sega Saturn.  I was excited to play a Street Fighter game that had digitized graphics like the Mortal Kombat series.

I wonder why nobody ever made a game about that movie The Game.

2013-05-26 10:38:18 AM
How about Avatar?

The buzz was that they actually gave the game developers time to work on it like a real game, and not just make some shiatty movie tie-in.

And.....it was actually pretty damn bad. More so because of the development time. Had they had like 6 months to crank it out, it would have been merely okay, but wow.....just wow....

Covered before: he knew he had terminal, and his kids/grandkids loved the game.

I don't think that word means what you think it does. Unless maybe if you're using it in relation to semen.

Opera is pretty good, and GO Team just released a new one that apparently is pretty good.

I must have hit some sort of weird glitch in my copy, because I kept ending back at the tutorial sledding scene.

There was a `Til Tuesday game?

How could I miss something like that?

the original Batman for NES was absolutely amazing

I stopped reading after the article said that E.T. on the Atari 2600 was the worst game of all time. People who say that have no idea what they are talking about. I suspect most of them are simply parroting what they read on a list on the internet. Or several lists. All from people who don't know what they are talking about.

Now granted, this one is a TV licence rather than a film, but it's so utterly vile that it deserves a mention. The A-Team for the Commodore 64. Here is what you get.

img.gamefaqs.net

This is the title screen. It is quite poor for its time. The title screen also plays the theme music. Bizarrely, the theme music in question isn't the A-Team theme. It's the music from Star Wars.

Now, on to the game.

img.gamefaqs.net

That's it. That's all you get. One screen with your blocky monochrome figure at the bottom shooting at the blocky monochrome disembodied heads of the A-Team for some reason. At least the Star Wars music is gone, along with any other sounds of any sort. No music, no sound effects. Did I mention that the Commodore 64's greatest strength is its sound capabilities? Well it is. The 64 pisses all over every other 8-bit machine from a great height. But you'd never know it with this game.

I could never get past the Bison level.

There was also a Double Dragon arcade game based on the movie, which was (very loosely) based on the game.

Nah, we'll just find out one day, when war breaks out on the Korean Peninsula, that Starcraft was a real life version of Ender's Game all along.

Why provide meaningful, substantive discussion when you can distill the most rudimentary and basic talking points into a "list" and capture the internet's short attention span and unwillingness to actually learn something about a topic?

That's odd, because Star Trek was a really fun game to play with a friend.  Wasn't a AAA title but for a movie tie-in game it was surprisingly good.

I'm surprised that the list wasn't entirely of LJN games for the original NES.  Some of them were okay, but most of them were pretty wretched.

I tried to picture what an "Eyes Wide Shut" game would be like. Luckily, my wife was here to keep me from hanging myself

2013-05-26 03:01:44 PM

jackrazz: Some of them were okay

That's a lie. If LJN accidentally made an "okay" game, they would have never released it and taken the risk that they'd ruin their brand recognition.
