That was fkn shweeeeet...

I'll even forgive the boneheaded calls.  This wouldn't have happened without them.

I was wondering when there would be a thread about this

MaudlinMutantMollusk: Despite two horrible calls that cost them runs

/GO GIANTS!

Although the ump missed the play at home...it was at least close.

The missed call at 3rd was bad, real bad... the only explanation I can come up with is that the ump was coming from home to make the call and the runner's body shielded the tag and the ump 'assumed' it was made. Of course the fielder's look towards the runner was a clear indication that he missed him.

My favorite part about the homerun was the 3rd base coach...he darn near ran the final 90 feet with Pagan and then he jumping around like a little kid afterwards ... Love it!!

I don't really follow baseball, but it appears that almost every stadium has a different configuration and distance for their outfield. Wouldn't that throw off the numbers in terms of homeruns and other batting stats? If a home team's outfield is 20 feet shorter, wouldn't they be likely to hit more home runs than other teams? This inside the park home run probably wouldn't have happened if the wall wasn't placed at some weird angle.

See Angel run. Run, run, run. See the ball bounce away from the outfielder. Bounce, bounce, bounce. See the umpire call him safe. Safe, safe, safe.

That's the home field advantage you get in baseball and not in other sports.  You play half your games in your unique ballpark.  Any visiting team probably doesn't play there more than 6 times a year(unless they're in the same division as you), so you have a better feel for the dimensions.  That said, there is some pretty god awful ballparks out there.  But this isn't one of them.

Well that was selfish of him. He could have stopped at third and waited for the next guy to hit him in but no.. He'd rather risk being thrown out so he can be the hero and make the highlight reel.

Part of the game.  Some of the old time fields in history truly had...character.

And now Mets fans are feeling ever so much better about their team's brain trust trading Pagan for a .230-hitting outfielder and a shiatty relief pitcher.

So much respect for that team. They all seem to really love what they do instead of looking at it like a job.

This is why we watch sports.  At that moment, Pagan was the happiest person on Earth.  We got to share that with him.

To be fair to the Rockies, that looked like it hit off the top of the padding.  I don't know that the Giants outfield would have played it any better.  That was just a weird bounce.

My step mom is on the San Jose city council and is actively working to get the A's moved... what would you think about that?

The same as any other inside-the-parker.  Still amazing.

This, its a real joy to see such a bunch of characters having such fun out on the field. Pagán's one of my favorites on that team, good on him.

As much as the Oakland "Whatever the Damn Name is Now" is a mess, I think they should stay up there. I can't imagine where a stadium would go in SJ. The Niners gig in Santa Clara is in some ways bad enough. We don't need another traffic jam down here.

MLB stadiums built before 1991
Fenway Park = still good thanks to renovations
Wrigley Field = not crap yet, but if they don't do a major remodel soon, it will be
Dodger Stadium = still good as far as I can tell
Angel Stadium = still good as far as I can tell
Oakland Coliseum = biggest craphole in MLB
Kauffman Stadium = owner actually invests in keeping that place nice
Rogers Centre = I don't really know, I'm assuming mediocre
Tropicana Field = second biggest craphole in MLB

In 91 (Comiskey) and 92 (Camden Yards) everyone started building pretty awesome (for the most part) stadiums
You had new stadiums open in 91, 92, 2 in 94, 95, 96, 98, 99, 3 in 00, 2 in 01, 03, 2 in 04, 06, 08, 2 in 09, 10, 12

A walk-off inside the park homer run is about as rare as a perfect game. This also happened to be my friend's son's first ever big league ballgame. I think he's going to a lifelong Giants fan after this.

Where the stadium will go:
Cisco Field is proposed to be constructed in downtown San Jose immediately adjacent to the HP Pavilion and the Diridon Station at the corner of Montgomery Street and Park Avenue.

The radio announcers in Colorado said he was called out because he went outside of the basepath to avoid the tag. They said he went too far toward the home plate side of third.

does anybody have the jon miller call of this?

Dave Fleming called the tenth, not Miller.

At least the walk off inside the park home run wasn't against the Astros.  The listing in the record book would have to have an asterisk there.

My favorite inside-the-park home run is still Paul Konerko at the Metrodome. Yes I'm a bias Sox fan, but I mainly like it because it's hilarious.

They actually put some serious money down on making it a baseball only stadium at some point in the mid to late 90s.

Bullshiat, I was watching. fark then. I want to hear their excuse for Belt being called out at home now.

Thanks for that info! I just moved back after a 4 year absence. Granted there isn't a lot going on in that part of town, I still don't think a stadium is a good idea.
