Why, dear god, why, do they have to put all this shiat in Florida? Can't they put stuff in a state NOT filled with batshiat and humidity? Is it labor laws? Tax breaks?

That's it exactly.

But as a resident of Florida, I definitely sympathize with ecmoRandomNumbers' complaint--Florida humidity is awful. Not so sure about the batshiat.

Ah, ha- that's the plan... get all the undesirables and defectives to go to Florida, put up the giant fence they've been secretly constructing in easily-movable sections, and quarantine then from the rest of the USA! Then the sorting begins: litigation lawyers, Walmart shoppers, and those who move their lips when they read will be first into the bonfire.

The Universal Studios Florida Simpsons Ride is pretty cool. Nothing special technology wise but extremely well done all the same. I don't expect much of a themed area though end of the park isn't exactly large to begin with. They'll probably just remodel a few buildings along the sides of the lake and call it a day.

That said, the whole Universal Studios half of the resort (Islands of Adventure being the other) had some incredibly tired rides when I visited last year. Terminator 2 was desperate, Shrek had massive queues for an abysmal 5 minute short, Twister - awful, Men in Black - tired & broken down, Disaster! -  15 minutes of BS (and Christopher Walken) for a 2 minute ride at the end. Half the park was past it. Some old rides were surprisingly fun though - the ET ride was trippy and the Mummy rollercoaster was memorable.

Visitors will be able to get 'Krusty-certified meat sandwiches' from a Krusty Burger, donuts from Lard Lad and beer at the Duff Brewery. There will also be a Moe's Tavern along with a Cletus' Chicken Shack, a chance to snatch the catch of the day at The Frying Dutchman, eat a slice at Luigi's Pizza, and visit a Kwik-E-Mart.

My older daughter tried that on me once, on one trip. Her schtick was "How much longer? When we gonna get there?" All the way for a three hour ride she did this, and then all the way back. When we were about 15 minutes from home she asked again and I said "Give me your hand" (my wife was driving). Trusting fool that she was, she did, and I gave it a resounding thwack. "When that stops hurting," I said, "we'll be home." She sat in the backseat for the next fifteen minutes saying "Ow ow ow ow ow" but she never pulled that stunt again.

1. Possibly but if you don't have friends in the show, it's a major bore especially since the whole setup takes perhaps 2-3x longer than the ride. And the ride is pretty lame too really.
2. First day I went to the park, the ride was shut. Second day (with my son) it was open and the set up is nice, but the ride was just some dumb laser tag game. Disney have a similar Buzz Lightyear themed ride which was more modern and more interesting.

I don't necessarily count age against a ride, but I just thought these 2 and the others I mentioned were really lame. Disney had it's fair share of lame attractions too - the Muppets 3D, the backlot tour, It's a Small World (which is so awful it's anti-awful), 90% of Epcot etc.

I just thought that Universal Studios was had a disproportionate amount of old / tired rides.
