And the trailer for FDR American Badass (here: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1811315/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1 ) is just hilarious

Holy shiat....They actually hawk SyFy monster flicks at Cannes?!

I really hoped that this was an attempt at satire.

Nope; Cannes is basically a trade show.

Nope; Cannes is basically a trade show.

I realize that.....I just didn't expect obvious cinematic dreck to be among the offerings.

From what it sounds like "Sharknado" might be better than the new Gosling flick "Only God Forgives". That's been getting panned left and right.

From this review: "I can guess why many of Gosling's fans will be disappointed in the film: the spectacularly bemuscled star keeps his shirt on throughout."

Sorry :(

Exactly.  I love these movies.  Hopefully SyFy picks it up (if it not actually a SyFy production)

They didn't upsize their combo at lunch?

This movie is so low budget that they couldn't even spell Ian's last name on the poster correctly.

FDR American Badass is available on Netflix streaming at least it was.

Now Sharknado, I look forward to catching during a bout with insomnia on some obscure cable channel.

actually, it is a volcano that is just one huge piranha sticking out the earth. And it's dormant.

It's a really boring movie except for the gratuitous T and A.

SERIOUSLY. How does this stuff get made, and why does it get made? I like B-movies don't get me wrong, but there comes a point where it is just a terrible movie and it isn't entertaining. Outside of the names and absurdity factor, the movies on SyFy offer 0 entertainment value. This coming from someone whose staple films were Troma films.

Hell, most of these sound like movies from  our "Weird movie night" parties my hubby and I have on occassion.

That FDR one looks FUNNY!

Oh My Stars and Garters!!!  Does ANYONE here remember when I suggested "Sharknado" in one of these threads a year or so ago? At least, I  think  "Sharknado" was in the list of ridiculous SyFy movies I'd expect to see soon. It might have been "Beenado", too.

Anyway, I was just kidding! I didn't mean for it to really happen!

Also, someone in Hollywood owes me "Based on an original idea from" credit, at the very least.

When I was a kid my dad used to get the Variety magazine the week that Cannes happened. It was huge and chock full of ads for just the absolute worst dreck imaginable. The Golan-Globus stuff looked like Merchant and Ivory in comparison to the future MST3k fodder advertised.

Some of the SyFy films are duds, but if you show me a shark jumping out of the ocean and then eating a 747 flying in the air... I'm going to laugh uncontrolably.

Jail Caesar looks like it could be pretty interesting. The story of Julius Caesar performed with real prisoners in real prisons. Plus it has the Borg Queen.

Enough said.

I remember when I thought that Cannes was the place were they showcased only the best of smaller budget and art movies that normally don't get a lot of publicity. Then a few years ago I saw a documentary about it and realized what really is going on. Imagine my surprise.
