Really?  Last I saw was that Gawker was getting ready to buy the video and is having trouble locating the owner.  Nothing about it having been sold yet.  I'd love any further info or links if you've got 'em.

I still want to know what pathetic excuse for a candidate lost to this fat sack of bigoted drug addict.  It would also explain why the Leafs and Jays suck so much.

I think I misunderstood the radio report his morning.  I thought it sold for $300K to someone other than Gawker but I might be mistaken because there is nothing about it on the intertubes.

Just had to update this...

Toronto vs. Calgary

-One city has a fat, asshole, controversial, jerk of a mayor without an apparent crack problem
-The other has a single, muslim, potentially gay, immigrant, professor as a mayor

Guess which mayor belongs to which city?

Maybe Toronto got the Mayor it deserves. The biggest problem in Toronto, and the GTA in general, is traffic gridlock. There was a survey done earlier this year in which 71% of GTA residents agree they're "fed up" and want government to do something about it. Only 39% think it's fair to ask GTA residents to contribute financially to the solution...

His election was one of those trainwrecks in motion that you just can't look away from, and he's been just as much of a chucklefark as Mayor as many expected. "Trim the fat, cut everything!!!" just doesn't really work in real life. Not if you want society to function.

Ford campaigned, and won, on the split between those two numbers. That 32% think that "eliminating the Gravy" will generate the $1-2 billion a year we need to solve the problem. However, after 2.5 years it's become obvious to all but the terminally thick that you need to have dedicated taxes to solve this issue.

tl;dr version: some people are too stoopid to vote.

Before blaming all residents of Toronto, please allow me to leave this map here.  Fark you very much, people of the outskirts who weren't even part of the city until a few years ago, for foisting an inept man, utterly devoid of self-awareness, upon the original communities of the city's core.

Empty calories from excessive alcohol consumption offset the appetite suppressing qualities of crack.

Yep.  That pretty much says all that needs to be said.  The borders of the original city are a near-perfect match for those who voted  againstRob ford.  The distinction between the attitudes of the voters in that area versus the surrounding municipalities that were absorbed into the city a few years back couldn't be more clear.

ongbok: Where is Degrassi at?

Very bottom left.

At least, that's the school where it was filmed.  Degrassi Street, where most of the scenes with the kids' houses were shot, is in a completely different part of the city.

Then again, if you're talking about the second series and not the original one, I can't help you.

It's almost like Canada is going through a natural ebb and flow of politics after years of socialism they demand a little less socialism. Too bad your conservatives are crack smokers and kitten stranglers.

Actually, after years of corporatism and "free marketeering" by our worst PM in recent memory (at least as long as I've lived) -- Canadians pretty overwhelmingly favour a return to our traditional market socialism but are stymied by a neck and neck votesplit between opposition parties.

To use a wrestling analogy, this is a 3 way match and the two faces keep beating each other up and letting a lesser heel cruise to victory. And it's 4 years between matches.

Well has this race took place in 2010, I would assume the voters' pension for something different has changed slightly.

as a point of clarification: the GTA includes all of Durham, York and Peel regions. The only time folks in Keswick and Beaverton are concerned about traffic is summer weekends and it would be unfair to make them pay for gridlock in the city.

So now that the video has disappeared, Mayor McLargehuge has finally made a statement: http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/story/2013/05/24/toronto-ford-n e wser.html

Which, of course, translates to "I bought the video."

/or possibly "The drug dealer who shot the video is currently encased in cement on the bottom of Lake Ontario"
