(Mother Nature Network)   How to attract spiders to your garden. But just the cute and helpful ones. Not the big, freaky, hairy ones that eat birds and hide behind toilets and clocks   (mnn.com) divider line 75

Gah! *shudders* spiders! We have an agreement in my house. If I don't see you, and you don't spiral down and land on the TP, you get to live. If however, you should skitter across the floor in front of me, surprise me while I am doing dishes etc...you are squashed. Spring and fall we get the little tan spiders. Especially in the sink and tub area. They usually don't make it.

I do have a spider who hangs out around the A/C unit out back. I leave him alone. He's biig! and I have one who catches mayflies/midges etc around one of my windows. He's ok too...

When I went to Stone Lab field school in Lake Erie...we had alot of spiders..on the ceiling of the girls r/r....Once one landed on the TP roll..all I can say is it's good that I was already properly situated for the reaction....

Maybe spiders are the answer to our Chipmunk and Vole problem. Backyard looks like a Birkenau style processing factory.

Garden has a pickle bucket with a ramp, water and floating sunflower seeds to lure the Chipmunks away from the strawberry bush and early Tomatoes. Yard has a series of vole motels. What's a vole motel you say? Above ground tunnel made by tent staking a piece of plastic over their runs. Inside the tunnels are a pair of outward facing un-baited mouse traps, they may be fast enough to get past the first one but we've yet to have two sprung traps and no dead muppet.

Last year the Chipmunk solution processed over 30 little buggers, so far this year two. Vole motels have been running for a week and we're already over 25... Going to be a long summer of clearing traps and retching as I dump the dead rat cousin storage bucket on garbage day.

What a great yard and garden the neighbors say, never knowing that it is build on blood and lies.

Clock spider is the most horrifying of all the wall-mounted arachnid memes.

Smoking GNU: thecpt: I saw a bee come in through the diffuser last night and I couldn't care less. I saw a spider on top of the kitchen cabinet last week. I was judge Judy and executioner and quicker than you can say get the ladder, boom flip flop throw for the kill

Spiders are not a problem for me. Wasps and hornets, however, get me running from the room post haste. I have a (probably irrational) fear that the will sting me in my eyes.

And our garden is full of wasps.

We just come for the gin and tonics.  And the foie gras.  Stop putting those out, we'll head back to the country club...

I hate you a lot right now.

Heh. Just know I stole that so the spelling error is not mine

Also, some background on my kneejerk response: I was drinking a soda from McDonald's when I saw that pic. McDonald's has opaque straws. I seriously had to stop drinking my Diet Coke and check the straw. :D

You're eating at McDonalds and worried about spiders in your food?  lol You've got a lot more to worry about.

Here of the symptoms of a spider bite. If you experience any of these, you were probably bitten by a spider.
