Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a warm Caturday welcome to the babies of Scampi.  She went into labor last night and four hours later, we have five babies.  Mom and the babies are all doing fine.
[sphotos-a.xx.fbcdn.net image 850x637]
Five babies mean five names.  The wife and kids are ignoring what I came up with, but I don't really care because I think the names are awesome.

General Tso's Tortellini
Pu Pu Pasta
shiatake Parmesan
Sashimi Fettucini
and my personal favorite that I came up with last night

Moo Shu Tiramisu.

There are two boys and three girls, and I don't think mom has stopped purring since she finally finished last night.

Congratulations on all the newbies.

ArmednHammered, FangQ for advising how I might vote. Have now done so.
Also FangQ BBBB for momma Scampi & young pix.  MooShuTiramisu is excellent name, actually all are good.
luckyeddie posted over on 51 cats thread, so did I. Still attempt to Edit, haven't finnished (sic) local ham rag yet.
Am pleased Pl didn't make me to go Lodge to clean up after last night's festivities with him. Still try to Edit; most here lounge happily & comfily.

Mom Scampi and her brood.  Re-examining them, we now think 3 boys and 2 girls, but still kind of hard to tell.  The little orangish brown one definitely has a set of lungs on him.
Oh boy... MEWBIES!!!! So cute, and a nice variety of colors.
The tortie is a girl so look at her bottom and whatever other kittens match, are girls. The orange one is probably a boy. It's easier to tell the boys from the girls at this age.

One of the greys is a boy, the orange is a boy, and we think the dark torti is a boy, but we're unsure on that one.

The tortie is most likely a girl. In all my years of raising cats I have never ever had a male tortie. It's a rarity if it's a boy, around 1 in 1,000 calico/torties are boys.

BBBB squee! Kittens! I love all the names! Wowsers, 5? a decent batch. I am drawn to the dark tortie. My folks had a cat, Sabrina who was a dark tortie. She was so wonderful.

I think that I would probably keep one kitten. Because Sake died so unexpectedly. Which still breaks my heart to think about. Of course, I'm one of those that might think about keeping them all! I do so love my kitteh...but I wish he had sibs to mellow out with.

Give Momma cat a gentle scritch for me, and tell her, "What a good job you did! Your babies are so precious."

Mom is handling it very well.  I don't think she's stopped purring since it started, and she is doing great with them.  The little orange one started off champagne, but is now orange, and has a great set of lungs on him.  The dark torti is pretty, but I'm waiting to see how well their coloring comes in when they get a little older.  Four kittehs in the house is enough, and we're happy to share with anyone who wants one.  I'm amazed at the different coloring we got out of this batch, especially the orange one, seeing as how we have no idea where that came from.  She's in her box with her kittehs and purring away right now, and constantly looks at me like she's seeking affirmation, and I have repeatedly given her skritches and head rubs, which she seems really appreciative of.  Time for me to head off to work now.  Hopefully things will be a little less hectic tomorrow.

BBBB obviously there is a recessive there for the red kitteh. I am reminded of the siamese kits, that are born cream, and gradually show their points.

I think I will be disappointed if one kitten doesn't win your heart.

Walls of Steel

You can erect walls of steel,
Around your heart.

There is no room for another,
It is too soon,
I need to grieve.

I will not.

Ah, but then,
One comes.

Purrs,
Merr-upps.

Climbs you
Like a tree.

Talks to you,
Holds you.

Misses you,
When you are gone.

Howls
Their displeasure.

Your walls of Steel,
Might just melt.

Leaving,
A soul tested in fire,

And found worthy.

Ok, I know it's late in the thread, but I promised to post pics of Cassie's new behind-the-ear fluff.  Like I said before, she just grew this extra fur in the past 2 months and it's really fine and kinda gray-ish colored.

Ok, WTF... The pics on my phone are easy to see, but when I uploaded them to flickr they ended up being too dark to see!

This was the best pic (before flicker made it all dark)...

Here's a view from behind.  The fur is really long, too!  Kinda sticks out like the hair of a crazy scientist :D

And you can see the new furs catching the light in this pic (she wasn't impressed):

I've been voting for Juno (I may have forgotten yesterday... the goldfish memory has been incredibly bad recently).  I also "liked" domari's granddaughter's drawing.  She did a great job!  I couldn't tell where she stood compared to the others, though.

Here's a pic of my Lars, just because he was being adorable:

And my last two pics have a bit of a story to them.  Two days ago I went out to water the fuchsia we bought mom for Mother's Day.  I had quite the scare when a robin came tearing out of the hanging pot!!  Apparently momma robin decided to build her nest in mom's fuchsia!  I tried to get a pic of her sitting on the nest, but she freaked out.  So I have a pic of the nest & a separate pic of momma bird on the deck railing waiting for me to go the fark away! :D  The nest is pretty much in the center of the pic... once again, when I uploaded it to flickr, the pic got way darker...

farm6.staticflickr.com

farm3.staticflickr.com

I'm a bit worried that her eggs will never hatch... she tends to fly away whenever anyone is on the deck (and avoiding the deck isn't a viable option for us at this point).  Not sure why she decided a hanging flower pot was a good place for her nest... we have tons of trees around here!

I like how they did stuff to the phone app... I'm not impressed with the computer version.  And I REALLY don't like that it makes my pictures so much darker!  I haven't really screwed around with it a whole lot (today was the first day I was on the computer site), but it still isn't quite as bad as some of the other hosting sites out there!!  **Sigh** why do websites feel they have to keep "improving" everything?!?!  If it works, just leave it alone!  FB has me all irritated with how often they "improve" their stuff, too...

Her drawing is in 2nd place,  someone's photo is in 1st place. I don't know how they have their contest set up if it's in different categories or not. There are adults and children entering so she's done well considering she's a child.

Now you have a nest in a funky place too, that's the topic of the contest.

A bloodless nail trimming! Woot! Poor Eli, his claws were so long they were catching in the bed clothes! His hinds were much better in terms of length. I usually clip him while he is sittin on the back of the couch. Perfect height for me to clip. And I use a hooman nail clipper. Faster, and accurate. And I can see, so I don't cut him to the quick.

I've been out mowing the backyard. Now that Jack and I have come back in smelling like grass clippings Gremie is going crazy. I'm being head butted and rubbed against so much and poor Jack is having trouble walking without stepping on Gremie while he tries to wind his way around Jack's feet. Gremie always feels left out when we go out and work in the yard. He sits in the window and watches and then greets us at the door when we come in.

Years ago, I hung an artificial plant in a hanging flower pot from the top of my balcony - and the same thing happened. About a week later, one of the 3 ropes supporting it broke, and I was worried that it would tip over and spill the eggs out. Let's just say that it must have been hilarious watching me standing on a stool trying to fix the broken rope and not fall off the balcony when the mama bird kept dive bombing my head.

I did get it fixed and all the eggs hatched, which led to my learning just how LOUD hungry baby birdies can be. And they drove Dragon absolutely insane  :o)

Howdy, folks! Great Ceiling Cat, I feel awful. Protip - if you're on medication and you get close to running out, call the Dr and get a new prescription instead of just stopping taking it - your stomach will thank you five months later when you start taking it again. Did a short hike today - only 4 miles, and thought I was going to die.

OK, done biatching. BBBB - congrats to you and especially Scampi on the 5 totally squee-worthy mewbies! If it were in any way within my power, I'd take the little orange one in a heartbeat.

Almost time for me to vote again, then I should think about trying to eat dinner. See you guys later.

shiatake Parmesan
Sashimi Fettucini
and my personal favorite that I came up with last night

Moo Shu Tiramisu.

There are two boys and three girls, and I don't think mom has stopped purring since she finally finished last night.

Salem Witch: We had a bit of a scare yesterday. My grandson had a twisted intestine. They were able to inflate it, no surgery. But the poor little guy was in a lot of pain.

Little man is tired today but thankfully he's OK.

That's scary!
How does something like that happen?

Brian Blessed's Bastard Boy: Ladies and Gentlemen, please give a warm Caturday welcome to the babies of Scampi.  She went into labor last night and four hours later, we have five babies.  Mom and the babies are all doing fine.

Five babies mean five names.  The wife and kids are ignoring what I came up with, but I don't really care because I think the names are awesome.

yobbery: Juno is still in third???
I thought for sure she would have moved into 2nd by this time.

I think everyone should share the link with their co-workers all week and see if Juno rises to 1st place by Caturday.

tigerose: Walls of Steel

You can erect walls of steel,
Around your heart.

There is no room for another,
It is too soon,
I need to grieve.

I will not.

Ah, but then,
One comes.

Purrs,
Merr-upps.

Climbs you
Like a tree.

Talks to you,
Holds you.

Misses you,
When you are gone.

Howls
Their displeasure.

Your walls of Steel,
Might just melt.

Leaving,
A soul tested in fire,

And found worthy.

mousiebelle: Thank you, sherpa18!!!!!  That looks a lot better!

Welcome, all I did was adjust the brightness/contrast - which led me to search for this pic of the white boy that I played around with a couple of months ago, I thought it came out sorta ... interesting. In a weird sort of way.

That is precisely what I plan on doing.
