That was just a matter of time. They got more and more advanced in every appearance. Although, they technically became immune to electrical overload a long time ago, long before this series.

I can imagine what happened back in the '80s..."Who's the superior being now, biatch?" *shoves Dalek into swamp*

That's a cool find.

Erm, if you click the link to the original article, this happened in March... of 2009.

/Given the subject matter, though, I guess it could have happened simultaneously then and now.
//Just like a million doctors simultaneously kicking your ass with rhyme.

Finding a Dalek lurking in Pond's bottom is either a kinky porn about sex toys, or the way the Doctor potty trains.

And I'm reasonably sure we had an article about it sometime in 2011.

...But it's still cool.

Dalek lurking at the bottom of some British pond

Is it distributin' swords? I hear that's no basis for a system of government.

I suppose you want supreme executive power to derive from a mandate from the masses.

That's always been my problem with Dr. Who.  I'd see pictures of the enemies he faces, and everyone goes on and on about the Daleks.

They looked like super lame enemies that even the Go-Bots could handle without breaking a sweat.  How am I supposed to be afraid of bad guys that look like the robots from The Black Hole?

FirstNationalBastard: Eh, just throw some stairs in front of it.

They original Dalek's had a even bigger problem, they couldn't leave an electrified floor where they got their power.  In their second appearance they had advanced to the point of having a giant backpack to provide them power off the electrified floor.

Watch an episode with the Angels. They can be pretty terrifying

There are quite a few things you might expect to find at the bottom of a pond. Garbage. Discarded firearms. Dead bodies weighted down with cement. But even if I kept that list going for another two hundred entries, I'm pretty sure I still wouldn't have reached the "Dalek" entry.

Really? 'Cos it was the first suggested item that you mentioned.

/one man's garbage...

2013-05-23 03:42:36 PM
Yes, Daleks are goofy looking... until there comes a point when they become terrifying.

It is the lack of expression? The monotonous annoying voice?  The absolute technological superiourity?  Hard to say.

Though frankly, the re-boot of the Cybermen made them WAY cooler than they were in the old series (and horrifying).

"I don't want to overly alarm you or anything, but they just found a Dalek lurking at the bottom of some British pond"

Why would I be overly alarmed by some Brit dweeb Dr. Who fan that threw a homemade "action figure" into a pond as a prank for the upcoming "pond cleaning"? That's just silly-

The new Doctor Who episodes (the stuff since 2005) sort of suck.  They're trying to be like the US sci-fi shows, but they really can't be.

They should have kept it more like the tone of the old stuff in the 70's and 80's, with less of the cheesy effects of course.

Tom Baker and Peter Davidson were the best.

Daleks lying in ponds is no basis for system of government.

But it does explain a lot about the current Government of the UK.

For that matter, there may be a few Daleks soaking in Canada, the US and Australia.

The problem is that every one of them are geniuses, inside a practically impenetrable mobile tank, with a fanatical religious devotion to destroying all things not Dalek.
