4NTLRZ: Since you're apparently Fark's equivalent of Richard Pryor

Are you insinuating I set myself on fire freebasing cocaine?!

All I'm talking about is a little perspective here

Which is what you seem to be lacking... You're taking way too much offense over a completely non-offensive thing... Someone was having a laugh over a stupid editor's failure of a headline and the absurd situation it implied, and you instead see people mocking dead children and being heartless evil bastards... If people were posting stuff actually making fun of the dead kids, then you might have a point, but they're not... They're making fun of the editor that came up with that stupid headline...

(But, for the record, it wouldn't necessarily have been wrong even to joke about the dead... In many situations, black humor is the only way some people can cope with tragedy... It can certainly be offensive to anyone directly involved, however... But, as they say, it's better to laugh than cry... However, that's all moot, since there was no black humor involved here, merely grammatical absurdity humor... If anyone is making fun of the dead, it's the headline writer, so take any anger out on them, not the people making fun of their stupid headline!)

When the tornado was making its way towards the school, why didn't they just evacuate and go somewhere else? I've never been to a place with a tornado so I don't know how dangerous it could get outside. If I knew there's a good chance it would pass over where I was, I would get the hell out of there, I wouldn't trust any building or structure to shelter me safely.

No, Rob. I wasn't implying any cocaine use or self-inflicted flamination. I just referenced Richard Pryor because he was just about the funniest cat ever, IMO, & came to mind first.

I understand where you're coming from and it's true that we use black humor as a coping mechanism in the face of tragedies that life deals us - had a friend who lost his wife this summer and when I went to see him before the service, he and lots of other mutual friends were singing "Goin' to the chapel & we're gonna get buried." I also totally get the epic grammar fail in the headline - Commas. How do they work? And I don't see any dark humor. That said, some of us have first-hand experience with the chaos of a tornado and Monday is very fresh for us. I still have nightmares about the three I've been through many years ago. When I wake up, I have to check to make sure I didn't crap the bed. Lucky for Mrs. 4NTLRZ, that hasn't happened.

Let me share something with you & I do hope you'll understand my perspective and how I just can't find anything to laugh about right now.

Some of us have friends in the affected area of Moore. A dear friend of of mine from college - someone I consider a brother - lives there with his wife and 1st grade son who attend(ed) Briarwood Elem. They are okay & all were thankfully not in the path when the storm hit, but lost EVERYTHING except for their vehicles. Their home and all that was on the property is gone. Most fortunately for them, they still have their kiddo. Others are not so lucky.

I wasn't trying to come off as some self-righteous ass & I'm sorry for throwing flames. I just have a very close connection with someone trying to deal with the situation.

At the risk of inciting the Fark Anit-Kid Faction, I'll say this. Lots of kids were lost Monday & I'm a parent of three that range in age from 17 to 8. It just seems too soon in any respect. Some parents up there are finalizing funeral arrangements. Right now kids are a no-go zone for me where the LULZ are concerned. That's all.

They always say, never try to outrun a tornado, but from what I've heard, they tried to get all the kids out. The deal is, with 15 minutes warning - which seems like a lot - it's nearly impossible to evacuate an entire school grades K through 6. That's a lot of kids to move in a short timeframe, even with a tornado on the ground that's moving slowly. And they're kids; hundreds of them. There's a lot of jack-assery and baffoonery that goes with the territory.

Mominator: Yeah, my original intent was to highlight the poor editing skills of whomever is claiming to manage that website. I feel very sad for the victims and their families.

Just saw this post of yours, which tells me your heart is in the right place. Sorry for ragging on you, Subby.

Live & let live?

Wait, so we're not allowed to laugh at the dead children anymore?  God dammit.   I had all this material ready.

/where are all these Farking douchebags coming from?  How did they end up on our website?
//don't you have something to go be outraged about on facebook?

Yeah, I know... See, I was just making another joke... You really aren't able to see any humor at the moment, are you??

Let me share something with you & I do hope you'll understand my perspective and how I just can't find anything to laugh about right now.

I get it... But, just because you can find absolutely nothing in the world humorous at the moment doesn't mean everyone else on the planet needs to stop trying to be funny... If you can't deal with it, you should probably remove yourself from places like Fark for a while... Because, threads like these are about the mildest and least offensive thing you're likely to find around here! In the actual threads about the tornadoes as they were happening, lots of proper douchebags were basically cheering for them and openly mocking the dead... They weren't even joking, just being assholes... Those are the sort of people that rightly deserve condemnation... Not someone just trying to lighten the mood by pointing out a silly headline... You may not be able to laugh yet, but those of us that can appreciate it...
