I recently watched the Van Damme movie and, even though it's dated, it's still pretty good.

And Mia Sara... (*drool*) Even at the end, when she was a bit older and wearing her mom jeans, she still looked good. (She's still gorgeous today, IMHO... and so is Gloria Reuben.)

If they put a good amount of effort into story development and get some decent actors for the project, I think it might be interesting to see a reboot.

Sorry, subby. I don't agree with the [FAIL] tag on this one. I think you're just prejudiced against Van Damme's hairstyle in the original.

We need a new "Van Damme x2" movie. I think we're overdue.

Double Impact - 1991
TimeCop - 1994
Replicant - 2001

And then nothin'. He stopped acting as his own co-star after that. But why? Did he get into a spat with himself?

2013-05-23 03:59:05 AM
I never watched the entire movie.. I vaguely remember Ron Silver's bad guy talking to himself.

The hell with Timecop, let's have a Robocop reboot. You could actually use Detriot as your backdrop instead of matte painting parts of Dallas.

So John Claude Van Damme time travels to 2013, sees how laughable and ridiculous his career has become and kills himself.

It's in post-production* and tentatively scheduled for release next fall.

*which is to say: in the process of turning the director's preferred cut into whatever patchwork Frankenstein abomination actually reaches the screen.

You know what would be awesome ? If this movie never happened in the first place . Or the reboot.

Reboot my ass, hollywood suits. Green something better than this crappy link or 95% of your yearly output.
And someone please do a kickstarter to buy a one way ticket off the planet for jj abrams

I think every remake is a bad idea.
Especially remakes made (roughly) post-1990 (with maybe 3 exceptions).

3 exceptions being any die hard movie

I generally think that few shows or movies do time travel very well;  the first Terminator was perfect, due to the lack of any loose ends.  Travel by TARDIS usually is fine, as it almost never involves people meeting past or future versions of themselves.  Star Trek IV's time travel was alright, cheesiness of the story aside.

Nothing at all. I merely switched Oceans for Die Hard. I like both . Even, in a way, the last die hard film.
Its a major thing though- I have to be really stoned as it was soooo bad, but good. Like every Bruce Willis film, and I like the guy.

I should clarify- I really, really liked Hudson Hawk. I still have the cardboard videostore cut-out with Bruce on a rope for Hudson Hawk .

For shame.

I don't think it needs a reboot, but really Timecop wasn't that bad.  Haven't watched it in awhile, but it was a relatively well rounded story.

Sam Jackson, Gary Oldman, and Jackie Earl Haley and a list of decent second stringers are attached. Also the script is heavily written by David Self who has a list of really great movies including some overlooked greats (Road to Perdition). Really the only unknown is having this titan directed by a relatively new comer in Jose Padihla who hasn't had a lot to work with but shows some talent. Elite Squad was surprisingly decent given the budget and talent.

Have faith, this one may actually be decent

Speaking of reboots, last night I watched total recall.

Surprised how much I liked it more than the original.

He must be really good if they released him from jail.

As long as they keep the mandatory "Van Damme does the splits" scene (I think in the original he ended up improbably doing the splits across his kitchen countertops) I'm OK with this.

Need one of those in every Van Damme movie or reboot.

They can drop the mandatory "Van Damme shows him ass" scene though.

I'd honestly say I much prefer it to the original, which was so ludicrous it's hard to watch. Mars, mutants, and a lead who is the size of a bull with an accent that doesn't match anyone in the movie, yet no one questions it. Arnold just looks out of place in every movie where he's cast as 'just some guy'.
Not Verhoven's best work.

didn't care for the 1st Star Trek reboot
Too much stupidity
Security standing there staring straight ahead while the officers brawl on the bridge, red mater, other things I can't think of right now. (only watched it once, and I'm barely into my 1st cup of coffee right now)

It's only saving grace imho was Scotty's *I'm giving her all she's got* (money shot)
But Scotty was lessened by the inclusion of a Muppet sidekick

What I've seen of the Robocop reboot, it looks good
But now real info on the story....

The Superman reboot: Man of Steel, looks to be awesome
the only blech part I've seen is the crucifixion pose in space but that's seen out of context

With the right story, writers, director, and actors a Timecop reboot is OK with me

2013-05-23 10:17:35 AM
I don't understand how, in the Timecop universe, if someone from the past touches someone from the future, it turns both of them into a puddle of goo.
