D2theMcV: When did news organizations start publishing the names of minors involved in infractions?
swingerofbirches: I can't remember seeing the names of minors accused of a crime in a paper before. Not saying that it's illegal, just unusual. And the school had 2,300 students with a contracted security team? It just seems like that's an environment that would lead to students to think of themselves as hoodlums from a young age. I've seen those big schools with metal detectors and police, etc. Seems odd to me. Almost like a prison. Imagine a student who was on the edge of being a hoodlum going to a school like that or conversely going to a bucolic school with a normal number of students, lunch in a real dining room versus herding students into those awful cafeterias, etc. I think it makes a difference. I think people behave somewhat according to the environment you put them in and what becomes normalized early on.
justanothersumguy: Wasn't the use of Dihydrogen Monoxide banned by the Geneva Convention after WWI?
bleeding_heart_fascist: A friend of mine was hit by a water balloon thrown out of a moving vehicle. She described it like being hit by baseball bat right in the gut.// I'll leave it to the physicists to figure out the energy comparison between a baseball bat and a water balloon traveling at 35MPH
cc_rider: Clearly, the perpetrators must be charged with domestic terrorism for using a weapon of mass destruction.
mcmnky: pg;cr (poor grammar; couldn't read)Seven Enloe High School students face misdemeanor charges and possible school disciplinary action for an incident Thursday in which plastic bottles and balloons filled with water were thrown at students and administrators...OK......and administrators ordered students kept in their classrooms.WTF?
