Tonight's Stephen Fry interview will be worth watching too.

Can I just say that I don't find Zach Galifianakis all that funny? Imean, he's all right, and has his moments, but overall, I find him kinda meh.

His entire routine is based around the comedy concept of "Hey, look at me! I'm doing something weird and random!"

I'd like to think that he puts a lot of time into his bits, but when I've seen his performances, I can't help but wonder if he's just trying to see how far he can double down on being weird as an act before people say, "enough already!"

Early reviews suggest The Hangover III isn't doing him any favors, either, though it'll probably still make a ton of money.

Subby doesnt watch much Craig Ferguson as that is a pretty typical episode.

You know. Zach could play the part of Hooper from JAWS. Maybe it's just me seeing it.

I wasn't quite sure if the "we haven't met before" thing was a bit or actually true.

Is it me or does Craig Ferguson have the only funny late show? Like, consistently funny. Almost all the time. It's great.

i like both those guys, but that was rather awkward.

loved his stephen fry interview though - the one without an audience.

I enjoy it, but I can see where it's not for everyone.

For one, there's some haughty farkin people out there who honestly expect something close to Inside the Actors Studio when their favorite actor/actress gets an 8-minute guest bit on a farkin talk show, and the fact Craig will probably steer the farthest of any late night talk show host from asking any serious questions about the film itself they're "promoting"...

I think the characters and/or comedy he does in movies are boring and terrible.  But I've seen some pretty funny stuff on YouTube.

2013-05-22 03:00:58 PM
I was wondering how much pot they smoked before that interview, because it very strongly reminded me of when me and my friends go on random tangents of conversations whilst high.  Also, where's Craig's TARDIS?  His desk looked too bare.

Possibly because he's the only sober host on late night.

The man does 10 minutes of original standup every night with only the rarest setup/punchline jokes that make up 99% of the material his colleagues deliver.  For that alone, he's worth watching.  Plus, what other show has a Mocking Presence of Death as a sidekick?

This.

I was expecting something unusual for Craig. That was fun, but not all that out of the ordinary. Now, if you compare it to, well, every other late-night show, sure - it was balls-out insane.

Absolutely correct.  Sadly, he then follows that up with an e-mail/tweet segment that turns out to be anything but.  If he actually does focus on the segment, his improv riffs off of the audience e-mails is usually hilarious.  Sadly, that's about 5% of the time lately, as instead he'd rather fark around with impromptu harmonica playing, riffing with Josh Thompson, or some other inane bullshiat that makes me turn him off.

That farking skeleton and the pantomime horse ruined the show. Used to be, you never knew what to expect when you turned on the show -- puppets? dancing? intern abuse? some weird skit with a guest? drunk sean connery? Now -- it's 25 minutes chit-chat with Geoff and a horsey dance. Every damn night. It's turning into Letterman.

Zach may have smoked himself silly, but Craig is a recovering addict. And I don't think he ever really liked pot that much to begin with, despite how much he caters to the stoner crowd.

And last night was the first time in a while I taped Fallon instead of Craig. Galifianakis really does nothing for me.

The headline is direct from the original link (still not original on Smitty's part, but at least relevant). But when the copyright-violating video was yanked, the Mods changed the link to CBS.

I do miss the puppets and would love to know the story behind their departure. He still has them behind the desk, and Syd has been used as a prop occasionally, like when Tom Hanks was doing a James-Bond-villian bit during an interview.

I love Geoff and Secretariat, who I used to hate, but now that he's a regular presence, he's become a font of out-of-left-field humor (like when he kicks the door of his "stall" in a threatening manner).

But there are some schticks CraigyFerg just needs to stop doing every damn night:

- Nipple & dick jokes during the monologue

- "We call him a comedian, he's not really a comedian"

- Go to the "insincere applause" well about 1/4 as often as he currently does

- Harmonica tweets jingle (I'm OK with him doing things that are only funny to himself, but not habitually the same one every night)

- Angrily lamenting the lack of a band (it would ruin the show, and he knows it)

- Explaining in detail every time he says during the monologue, "You see what I did there?"

- Warming his balls by the fire

- Basically, anything where I can predict word-for-word what he's going to say because I watch every night

And a few he needs to bring back:

- interacting directly with the camera (not just the routine smack after "it's a great day...")

- Syd, Wavey, et al.

Having said all that, he's still the only late-night show I watch. Having watched Craig exclusively for years, I just can't sit through even a few minutes of the scripted, pre-interviewed predictability of the others. (Save for the Matt Damon hijack of Kimmel.)

This. I love his taped intros (Ass Möde!)

In other Craig-related "news", the Critics Choice Award nominations are out. And Craig got robbed:

BEST TALK SHOW
· Conan - TBS
· The Daily Show with Jon Stewart - Comedy Central
· The Ellen DeGeneres Show - Warner Brothers Television Distribution
· Jimmy Kimmel Live! - ABC
· Late Night with Jimmy Fallon - NBC
· Marie - Hallmark Channel

Marie?? Who the fark is Marie?

On the flip side Tatiana Maslany got a nod for Best Actress (cue the "Who the fark is Tatiana Maslany" posts).

I don't watch talk shows, but as a Zack fan before hangover one, I thought he was the 2nd biggest drag on the movie aside from the painfully unfunny Asian guy in the trunk. Tyson was a distant 3rd, and that's no compliment.

Earth never invented enough money to pay me to watch hangover 2, and I don't see that changing for the third installment, but hopefully the 4th one has the rock, shia leboof, Tim tebow, beiber, the chick who gets beat up by Chris rock, and whatever sing song show is most popular at the time all join together with Zack making funny jokes, and having his 4th hangover.

No real story behind hit. When he gets bored with something he stops doing it. That's the reason he's given.

Meh. Different tastes. I know Jack can have unfunny moments, but get him with kids, in almost any setting, and he's freaking golden.

Also, watch The Holiday. It's a very sweet, if formulaic, romcom, very well done. I almost believe that Rachel Weiss could fall in love with him.

I've watched Orphan Black and... meh. I almost think if you'd take Dollhouse put Maslany in the lead roll and play with a few other characters you'd actually have something. I know the season's not over and I'll watch, but I don't have high hopes for this program.
