And then nothing farking happened.

I don't suspect Joffery has more more episodes to go though... I'm looking forward to the midget jousting... When you see that, you know what's next...

My theory is that both that, and the Red Wedding will occur in the same episode in the season finale and will be filmed as if they are essentially happening at the same time

I doubt it. It'll be the mid season high next season.

They havent introduced a few characters that are integral to the plot in the lead up and aftermath of joff's wedding.

Having them show up after the fact does not make sense.

Clash City Farker: shortymac:

As his Aunt says Tyrion is his Father's child through and through.

They made him a dark blonde because the actor's skin color just didn't mesh well with pale blond.

True - there is no proof in the books, yet. It will be a major reveal.

What does Tywin Lannister say about him? He says he can't prove Tyrion is not his son. Some things the readers chose to ignore. Some things should be taken literally. It might not turn out different on TV, but in the books, there are clues. Why would Martin describe him that way, just because?

It's because Tyrion is a dwarf.

Even in modern times people dont take kindly to disabled people, back then it was 1000 times worse. In the first book he says that if he wasnt highborn he'd have been killed.

Tywin is obssesed with the status of his house, the fact that he has a deformed son means there is something wwrong with his bloodline.

Cagey B: ShadowKamui: It would have been 2-3 seasons before he came back, while you assumed he died @ winterfell the whole time. It would have been as dumb as having a disfigured Henry show backup in M*A*S*H* after spending 3 years in a Korean prison camp.

Except they handled that in the books by having Ramsay Bolton send out letters with pieces of his skin to Catelyn and I think a few other people. That would have established both what was happening to Theon and what a terrifying sadist Ramsay Bolton is. The only reasons to handle this the way the show is currently is to keep actors involved with the show until they get to ADWD, and to satisfy people who like to watch dudes get carved up for no apparent reason.

That's sort of the other thing that bugs me, too. In the books, there's sort of a reason for why Ramsay is doing what he's doing to Theon; he spent a significant of time himself pretending to be Reek and being subservient to Theon. Which of course means that Ramsay needs to take unending revenge. There's also this weird sexual/personal relationship that Ramsay has with Theon, but there's really no need to get into that here. On the show, though, there's literally no reason except that Ramsay is just a crazy sadist.

Books arent like tv and film dude. DOing it the way you describe requires expositional dialog which is loathed by writers and particularly by farkers. Example:

"Oh look at this letter! Whats this pale leathery thing? OMG it is skin...is it Theon's??"

You guys would be shiatting all over that if it was written into the show...and really thats the only soldi way to describe it.

They've shown a nail/screw thing in the foot twice, one finger flaying and one implied castration.  That's not anywhere close to torture porn, and yes you have to show some stuff on screen or people get pissed; look at all the jokes about show us the dragons/CGI is expensive and where battle of winterfell where.

It seems like the story is based around secret Targaryans.  At least there aren't as many as there were Cylons and shoehorned into the last second.

So as this season wraps up I've come up with a theory that the show will dramatically change the plot lines regarding the two upcoming weddings (Stop reading now if you are trying to be unspoiled.)

My theory is there's no way they can kill off two hugely popular characters like Joffrey (hey hatred is a kind if popularity) and Robb from the TV show. I just can't see them killing off the guy everyone loves to hate and the guy with the ass everyone loves to love. It would be fairly unprecedented to have a TV show do something like that so I'm thinking they either try to stretch out the weddings as long as possible (like maybe into next season) or kill off some other characters to compensate.

So, my bet is they kill off, say, Robb's wife and mother at the wedding and kill off someone besides Joff in King's Landing. I think they could finagle the story enough around those deaths to follow the plots of the books.

If this season ends with neither wedding happening, I'm betting they stretch those weddings out well into next year to try to replace the popularity of Robb and Joff before ditching them.

GOT is not history (duh).  It may be based in a medieval-like earth-like world, but it is wholly a work of fiction.  Trying to map the social values and culture from our real history onto it is as pointless as using GOT as a history textbook.

Too many people keep saying "that's the way things were" about lots of  which is pants on head retarded with respect to GOT.  It is very much a world sprung from the mind of pervy GRRM who resides in the modern day.  He may imitate medieval culture but please don't use real world historical examples to "prove" things in his work of fiction.

I highly doubt Joffery's wedding will happen this season.  I feel it is a good thing to start the ball rolling with next season.

I hope that Talisa doesn't die because she's super hot.

And I like that the TV show is diverging while basically remaining true in spirit, it keeps us guessing.

There are 2-3 already:

Aegon is TPWWP. Rhaegar is the father it is known.

GRRM wants you to think Rhaegar loved Lyanna Stark. That story is all POV, none is fact. It is a fact that Aerys sent Rhaegar after The Knight of the Laughing Tree. Rheagar was most likely gay, but also loyal to his wife. He wouldnt have cheated on her with another woman while they were still married.

It is known that Aerys lusted after Tywin's wife. He could have raped her. He was raping everything in King's Landing. I am certain he raped Lyanna Stark. Three of the best King's Guard were guarding the Tower of Joy. They wouldnt have been there on Rhaegar's orders.

It is pretty clear that they view dwarves about the same way that they were viewed in our own medievil age.  Tyrion is the son of the most feared man in the realm and he is still laughed at openly.

Just because someone isn't a manly man all the time doesn't mean they are gay, even in the world of GRRM.  Samwell Tarly for example loves music, fine clothing, and books, all in spite of his father's best efforts mind you, yet is also completely and undeniably straight.

nocturnal001: Esc7: shortymac: What does Tywin Lannister say about him? He says he can't prove Tyrion is not his son. Some things the readers chose to ignore. Some things should be taken literally. It might not turn out different on TV, but in the books, there are clues. Why would Martin describe him that way, just because?

It's because Tyrion is a dwarf.

Even in modern times people dont take kindly to disabled people, back then it was 1000 times worse. In the first book he says that if he wasnt highborn he'd have been killed.

Tywin is obssesed with the status of his house, the fact that he has a deformed son means there is something wwrong with his bloodline.

I don't mean to single you out but every time I hear something like this it is like nails on a chalkboard.

It is pretty clear that they view dwarves about the same way that they were viewed in our own medievil age.  Tyrion is the son of the most feared man in the realm and he is still laughed at openly.

This scene :  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TbwroS0YP54 Maybe an answer as to why the realm may always have a smirk at the Lannisters.

Magorn: mayIFark: Slightly off topic: Am I the only one who finds Peter Dinklage's character to be the most fascinating in GoT?

I guess party because I still have not figured out if he is one of the 'good guys' one 'bad guys'.

It's the best written in the books to and one of the reasons I admire the series in general,  Much more so than in the tv series you start out really hating Tyrion (at least I did ) being dismayed every times he seems to scrape out of what he SO has coming to him,  then you start grudgingly admiring him,  and before you know it you are more or less outright pulling for him.  It's a gifted writer who can make such a transition in a character so believeable  (because you're never really sure if it's because you like him MORE or just everyone else less and less)

That was how I felt about Jamie (which I'm sure was completely intentional), but I liked Tyrion from the beginning.  I've got a soft spot for cripples, bastards and broken things.

I also liked Jamie's arc, but I never liked Tyrion. First, he was a Lannister. Then, when Ned gets benedded, you know GRRM is just farking with you, so the ones you are starting to like are the ones who you shouldn't give a shiat about... which is even more true when Mr. "I marry biatches for love" shows up at that wedding. farking Starks.

By the time you're supposed to be liking Tyrion, I was done with him.

The "bad guys" are more entertaining anyway, and all the Lannisters (save Tyrion) are my favorites now. A shame Joffrey won't sit on the throne for much longer.

I'm sorry, it does come from personal experience.

When my handicapped brother was born my Grandma was upset that my Parents decided to name him "Dad's Name, Jr.", saying that honor should be reserved for the next normal son. She also suggested that we send him to a home.

Then seeing how society treats my brother:

-School districts that just saw him as a money machine and didn't care about his care.
-Bullies treating him like a punching bag
-School Admins that said "Well, if he wasn't so weird he wouldn't get picked on". HE'S HANDICAPPED YOU STUPID GIT.
-Now even though he has a degree in accounting no one will hire him.

Clash City Farker: Aegon is TPWWP.

No it's Dany that is the PTWP, re-read the Feast for Crows and stop skipping Sam's chapters.

Hahaha. Yeah, I'm about 99.999999% positive that my wife became a fan of Game of Thrones because of Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, even if Jaime was banging his sister. That guy is gorgeous, and I say that as a straight guy.

I don't see anything on his IMDb filmography that would include something as over the top as Spartacus, though.
