Walker: serial_crusher: Walker: Pay a visit to the Spencer's and the Urban Outfitters stores in that mall. Why hasn't he asked them to leave?

I'm going to guess it has something to do with location.  I doubt this woman was buying her funeral outfit at Spencer Gifts.

/ You don't usually see Spencer's' profane stuff without voluntarily going inside.

Irrelevant. The mall manager's statement read: King of Prussia Mall is dedicated to providing a family-friendly atmosphere for all our shoppers and such profanity is not tolerated.

Except #1 it wasn't profanity, and #2 actual profanity is tolerated in the stores. It doesn't matter where the shopper's location was. If profanity is permitted in Spencers, then his statement is contradicting itself. He said profanity is not tolerated in the mall period. Spencers is in the mall last time I checked.

Um, they're black? What if this were a trio of white girls in the suburbs?

Meh. You wear shirts with a slogan meant to shock people because it's vulgar, and are somehow surprised asked to leave private property because they don't want shirts that are vulgar?
Sorry, I don't see any civil rights violations here.

They don't.  They have authority over their own private property.  The first amendment does not apply on private property.  See for instance: Fark.com.

Try posting the word fark here.  fark fark fark fark fark.  <--- OH THE OUTRAGE THAT IS NOT WHAT I TYPED!!!

And if you go around the filter and put crap they don't want on this site, you'll get tossed just like in that mall.  You'll get over it.

Because it is commonly used and viewed as a derisive term and insult by people everywhere (including atheists).  If some stranger walked up to you and said "F**k you", I'm sure your first reaction would not be, "Well, thank you very much sir!  I am sexually enlightened and have no religious hang-ups, so I can see nothing but positives in your statement."

This isn't a freedom of speech issue, it's private property (freedom of speech applies to public settings), it only matters what the property owners find offensive.

Because a hot famous chick (Angelina Jolie) just told us all she had her tits removed because of breast cancer, so anything not 100% sympathetic towards cancer patients/families is the worst occurrence in the history of the world.

A shirt expressing someone's hate of cancer is now equivalent to supporting child porn. Interesting.

Don't let the haters get to you. Earlier this year I started naming all the variables in my C# code using the format f_cancer_9999, where the number is the last 4 digits of the social security number of someone who died of cancer. So now instead of assetAllocationMatrix I have f_cancer_2811 and instead of versionInvalid I have f_cancer_8725. My boss was totally against curing cancer, and wanted me to stop fighting cancer in my code. Unluckily for him he was no match for the media shiatstorm that I brought down on him for being insensitive to cancer survivors.

How else am I supposed to fight cancer besides buying edgy apparel and changing my Facebook icon? That reminds me - I need to check Amazon to see if they have any wristbands to support tornado awareness.

None of us are squeamish, I assure you. But there is a time and place for that. And constantly using a barrage of the same off-color words shows a lack of verbal skills as well as a failure to use a decent vocabulary range. Come on, we can all do better than that.
There is nothing childish about not wanting to be in a conversation where the other party cannot form a sentence without resorting to profanity.

cuzsis: I'm surprised no one has mentioned it yet. But the F-Cancer is actually a charity group. Their goal is to raise awareness for cancer in it's early stages, since that's when they're most likely to be cured.

http://www.letsfcancer.com/

I have a terminal cancer diagnosis that could have been avoided had the cancer been detected earlier, so I am totally behind the organization's cause.  That being said, they still need a different name.  I'm no prude and I cuss like a drunken sailor half the time.  However, I know how to conduct myself in public, where people have a reasonable expectation of not having themselves and their families assailed by profanity (real or implied).

Uh, newflash, people. The mall is a public place, and yes, some people might consider the hats offensive or profane. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to figure out what the ribbon is substituting for. They were asked to remove the hats, they did not, they were tossed.
I'm sorry about their mom, but enough with the entitlement. I recently lost my father and wouldn't go around with a "Fark congestive heart failure" item of clothes everywhere.

So it's okay to be R-rated in public in front of other people's kids as long as your loved one died of cancer?

I think the whole thing is crass. You're shopping for funeral dresses wearing shirts that would have gotten you kicked out of a lot of establishments... and then complain because you got kicked out? Boo-fu*cking-hoo.

And regardless of what many people are saying in this thread. It might look like FUAK, but that's not what it says or means, and everybody knows it. And that's the point.

There are places and times for that kind of language, and shopping at the mall isn't one of those places. As for the people mentioning the R-rated items at Spencer's... Those items are kept inside the store for viewing by people who are there intentionally, and children aren't supposed to be in the stores without adult supervision. If you want to take your kid to go see an R-rated movie, or if you use foul language at home around your kid, that's your prerogative. You technically have a right to walk around in public with these dumb T-shirts putting it out in everyone else's face like that, but you're being assholes for doing it. As for the mall, or any other establishment that doesn't want you on their property wearing that crap, it's their right to eject you. If you don't like it, then don't return to that establishment, but don't complain that they were somehow unfair or unreasonable to you.

George was a comedic genius, these shirt-sporting twats are not.
Neither are they doing so in a nightclub/theater setting where people have a reasonable expectation such language will be used.
It is your right to be skeptical, just as it is my right to let someone wearing such apparel in plain view where children can be expected to see it that in my estimation it reflects on them as having a low to moronic level of socialization and regard for others who may choose to teach their children the use and display of such words is not indicative of class or good upbringing.

You are free to disagree, but I don't give a good goddamn either way.
My daughter was grounded for a week for using "shiat". At 8 y.o. she knew she messed up, too. Didn't even fight me on it. Took her lumps.
