Yeah, that happens sometimes.  I remember the time my Child Porn For Peace poster got me arrested even despite the fact that I'd just lost a relative in Iraq a few weeks before.  Man, what an injustice.

COMPLETE STATEMENT FROM KING OF PRUSSIA MALL
"King of Prussia Mall would first like to express its condolences to the young women regarding the loss of their mother. King of Prussia Mall is a proud supporter of breast cancer awareness and other important causes however, the mall is first and foremost a family destination. Certain words and images, whether obvious or suggested, spoken or written on clothing, are considered profane and can offend many people. In keeping with the mall's Code of Conduct, security approached the women who were first asked respectfully to remove their caps and when they refused, were asked to leave. King of Prussia Mall is dedicated to providing a family-friendly atmosphere for all our shoppers and such profanity is not tolerated."
-Robert Hart, Mall Manager

Oh Please. The word looks like FUAK. Also stores in the mall have items for sale with uncensored words all over them but that's no problem for the mall manager. Pay a visit to the Spencer's and the Urban Outfitters stores in that mall. Why hasn't he asked them to leave? Oh right, because he makes money from them. Fark road trip. Let's have 500 people all show up in these hats and shirts and watch the hilarity commence.

2013-05-22 12:50:36 PM
Oh, and this mall cop should lose his job for the way he spoke to them:

Security approached and asked them to take the hats off or leave.

"I said, 'I'm not leaving. I spend money here and I'm not going to leave,'" said Zakia.

"He said, 'You know what? Shut your mouth. That was your cue to stop shopping.'
So I removed my hat," she said. The back and forth, caught on camera, still got the women kicked out.

I'm going to guess it has something to do with location.  I doubt this woman was buying her funeral outfit at Spencer Gifts.

Fu𐑙k

It actually stands for, "Failing to Understand our Capacity for Kindness." It's an acronym.

Irrelevant. The mall manager's statement read: King of Prussia Mall is dedicated to providing a family-friendly atmosphere for all our shoppers and such profanity is not tolerated.

Except #1 it wasn't profanity, and #2 actual profanity is tolerated in the stores. It doesn't matter where the shopper's location was. If profanity is permitted in Spencers, then his statement is contradicting itself. He said profanity is not tolerated in the mall period. Spencers is in the mall last time I checked.

Yes, stores in that mall probably sell Speedos and cigarettes, but I wouldn't want people using those in the mall either.  Bottom line: some people don't want rude words in their faces.

Private property... move along.

Also, I love that, in memory of their dear mother, they're wearing a hat with a rude word on it.  That's real... stupid.  Will they wear those to the funeral?  Why not?  Oh, they want the funeral to be quiet dignified?  Just like the mall used to be?

People wearing hats and shirts with rude words on it destroys something - it destroys the VALUE known as "mall where I can shop in peace with my family".  A value, boys and girls, is something we need to live or be happy.  People who destroy values are what we call evil.  The fact that these folks are too foolish to know that is irrelevant.

On the one hand, people are free to wear what they want, even if it makes them look like vulgar guttersnipes.

On the other hand, you're in a place of business, You're expected to have some sense of respectability.

These people are trying to bring in emotion and pity into it. Your mother died. That sucks. Make a sign and put it in your yard (until the HOA cites violations).

Don't be an entitled biatch because the rest of the world won't let you mourn (metaphoricalily) loudly and publically.

If your fragile mind is offended by the mere mention of a 'rude word' as you call it (seriously, you sound like you're a six-year-old using terms like that), then maybe you shouldn't go outside into the big scary world at all. The mall is supposed to be 'quiet and dignified?' Are you kidding? What world do you live in where the mall needs to be cleansed of every unsavory thought or image to shop there? The funny thing is that it wasn't even a bad word. Your mind has to fill in the blanks, meaning you were the one who thought of the bad word.

That being said, the mall has every right to show these people the door. They have chosen the patronage of prudes and their children over people who were just trying to have a sense of humor about an awful disease. Hopefully, it will reflect negatively in their sales numbers but I doubt it will.

King of Prussia is a huge mall (some say the first and oldest). It's main draw is tax free clothes shopping, for all those NJ and NY shoppers at the foot of the turnpike, that and the mudslides that cover the bottom floor and roads when it rains.

There aren't as many deaths in the parking area as the nearby Delaware malls, which have no sales on anything.
KOP mall doesn't really have any record of cancer support leading one to speculate that they may be more on the cancer creation side.

Yes, and there's just as many male advertisements like that in front of Abercrombie and Hollister. Hell I was watching a show on History (that actually had history!) that talked about the very first Calvin Klein male model ad for underwear. That was 50 feet tall in Times Square. A 10 foot package just staring at everyone walking down the street.

As long as there's clothes covering the naughty parts you won't run into trouble.

Carn: The point being, our society is awash in sex, violence, and profanity. You can't censor whatever you particularly feel is offensive. I'm offended by Justin Bieber and muzak, but I hear those in the mall all the time. Help help I'm being oppressed.

Except a private business does have the right to censor whatever they feel is offensive.

That's fine.  It's still stupid.  If a covered weiner isn't a weiner than a f*ck isn't the real thing either.  I think this can all be summed up with "If it offends you, you could trying minding your own f*cking business."

So when, for example, every bizarre sexual orientation in the world can be "offended" by whatever, (ex: gays and the words "husband" and "wife") when normal people get offended it's just that they are being whining douchebags? Right, got it.

Some animals are more equal than others.

Walker: serial_crusher: Walker: Pay a visit to the Spencer's and the Urban Outfitters stores in that mall. Why hasn't he asked them to leave?

I'm going to guess it has something to do with location.  I doubt this woman was buying her funeral outfit at Spencer Gifts.

/ You don't usually see Spencer's' profane stuff without voluntarily going inside.

Because it is commonly used and viewed as a derisive term and insult by people everywhere (including atheists).  If some stranger walked up to you and said "F**k you", I'm sure your first reaction would not be, "Well, thank you very much sir!  I am sexually enlightened and have no religious hang-ups, so I can see nothing but positives in your statement."

Don't let the haters get to you. Earlier this year I started naming all the variables in my C# code using the format f_cancer_9999, where the number is the last 4 digits of the social security number of someone who died of cancer. So now instead of assetAllocationMatrix I have f_cancer_2811 and instead of versionInvalid I have f_cancer_8725. My boss was totally against curing cancer, and wanted me to stop fighting cancer in my code. Unluckily for him he was no match for the media shiatstorm that I brought down on him for being insensitive to cancer survivors.

How else am I supposed to fight cancer besides buying edgy apparel and changing my Facebook icon? That reminds me - I need to check Amazon to see if they have any wristbands to support tornado awareness.

I have a terminal cancer diagnosis that could have been avoided had the cancer been detected earlier, so I am totally behind the organization's cause.  That being said, they still need a different name.  I'm no prude and I cuss like a drunken sailor half the time.  However, I know how to conduct myself in public, where people have a reasonable expectation of not having themselves and their families assailed by profanity (real or implied).

Uh, newflash, people. The mall is a public place, and yes, some people might consider the hats offensive or profane. It doesn't take a lot of imagination to figure out what the ribbon is substituting for. They were asked to remove the hats, they did not, they were tossed.
I'm sorry about their mom, but enough with the entitlement. I recently lost my father and wouldn't go around with a "Fark congestive heart failure" item of clothes everywhere.

vudukungfu: It *is* in King Of Prussia.
They named the town after a dead king of a dead country.
Those folks don't like to get over anything.
In 1960, you wouldn't see a person of color in that town.
Yeah, Pennsylvania is full of racists.
But you knew that.

Not too familiar with that zip code are you?  It's usually been very diverse.

Now go a tad to the East, or South... different story

I was going to side with the mall but the shirts clearly don't have swear words on them.

That said, you get snippy with mall security you are going to b asked to leave/86'd.  It's their only actual power.

I don't see why they need special dresses for the funeral. They clearly already have the perfect "appropriate for every situation" clothing in what they wore to the mall.

So it's okay to be R-rated in public in front of other people's kids as long as your loved one died of cancer?

I think the whole thing is crass. You're shopping for funeral dresses wearing shirts that would have gotten you kicked out of a lot of establishments... and then complain because you got kicked out? Boo-fu*cking-hoo.

And regardless of what many people are saying in this thread. It might look like FUAK, but that's not what it says or means, and everybody knows it. And that's the point.

There are places and times for that kind of language, and shopping at the mall isn't one of those places. As for the people mentioning the R-rated items at Spencer's... Those items are kept inside the store for viewing by people who are there intentionally, and children aren't supposed to be in the stores without adult supervision. If you want to take your kid to go see an R-rated movie, or if you use foul language at home around your kid, that's your prerogative. You technically have a right to walk around in public with these dumb T-shirts putting it out in everyone else's face like that, but you're being assholes for doing it. As for the mall, or any other establishment that doesn't want you on their property wearing that crap, it's their right to eject you. If you don't like it, then don't return to that establishment, but don't complain that they were somehow unfair or unreasonable to you.

Carn: Seen worn by Mensa members:

That's the problem right there. Mensa members are such that I attended exactly 2 meetings and promptly told them never to contact me again.
Just because you have a high test IQ does not give you the latitude in life to be a stuck-up twit.

Agent Smiths Laugh: ...............SNIP

Let's just say I have a Carlin-like skepticism about the standards the words in bold imply.

George was a comedic genius, these shirt-sporting twats are not.
Neither are they doing so in a nightclub/theater setting where people have a reasonable expectation such language will be used.
It is your right to be skeptical, just as it is my right to let someone wearing such apparel in plain view where children can be expected to see it that in my estimation it reflects on them as having a low to moronic level of socialization and regard for others who may choose to teach their children the use and display of such words is not indicative of class or good upbringing.

You are free to disagree, but I don't give a good goddamn either way.
My daughter was grounded for a week for using "shiat". At 8 y.o. she knew she messed up, too. Didn't even fight me on it. Took her lumps.

You want us to take back the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution while we're at it?

/a single security guard does not speak for the state that was founded on the basis of tolerance.  Thanks Mr. Penn.

The first was never incorporated into law, and acting upon many of its provisions will actually get you thrown in prison.
The second is outdated and no longer functions.
And your beer sucks.
