Local papers tend to leave that out because they assume the readers know who their elected officials are.

I know that doesn't fit into your conspiracy theories, but hey.

I live in Utah. Two points:

1. Mike Lee is a complete idiot who will have no trouble getting re-elected for the next 50 years. He could rape a puppy on live TV and they still would vote for him.
2. The Democratic party here was strangled to death by an LDS Bishop. As long as you run to the right of Glenn Beck you will always get elected.
3. We have the lowest per-pupil spending on education in the country.

From what my Satanist friend told me, satan the word comes from a word (greek? Latin?) for skeptic or non-believer. So, apparently, even Satanists don't believe in a 'satan', they're like angry atheists.  Satan as a baddie was entirely a christian construct.

Well, yes and no, actually.  You're not supposed to. I'm in the middle of buying a house and we and the sellers both had to sign a paper saying they're not short selling to us and then just renting from us.  The idea is to make sure it's an actual sale and the buyer will be using it. Not short selling and then renting from the buyer on the part of the seller to get out from under their mortgage.

That condition is from the lein holder on your property, the mortgage company. It is not a law. You could have contacted them if you thought it was an unfair condition.

If I'm not mistaken, you have to sign what's called an "arms length transaction" statement that says you're not short-selling your house to someone you know.  At least, that's the rule in California.  I don't know about Utah.

Wikipedia says:

The original Hebrew term, satan, is a noun from a verb meaning primarily to, "obstruct, oppose," as it is found in Numbers 22:22, 1 Samuel 29:4, Psalms 109:6.[6] Ha-Satan is traditionally translated as "the accuser," or "the adversary." The definite article "ha-," English "the," is used to show that this is a title bestowed on a being, versus the name of a being. Thus this being would be referred to as "the satan."

So I guess one translation of "satanists" could be "obstructionists"...

Right, the most well-known satanist groups are more of a worship of the individual over the worship of a diety, be it benevolent or malevolent.  The wiki article on LaVeyan Satanism discusses it with citations "...It often rejects the legitimacy of any other organizations of Satanists, dubbing them reverse-Christians, pseudo-Satanists or Devil worshipers."

Interesting read.

How is any of that news-worthy?  The lein-holder obviously agreed to the short sale and the price they received.  The lender didn't have to agree to it, they could have just foreclosed.  What does it matter who it was sold to and what the new owner does with the property?  I can't find any crime, impropriety or scandal in any of this.

Depends. Is this standard practice for the lein-holder, or a special "favor" (ala the Countrywide/BOA improprieties) given to a US Senator? i.e. If you were underwater on your house, would they do it for you?

It doesn't look like there is any wrong doing, but the Senator is going out of his way to seem guilty. The weird tag would've been better.
