I heard that they are actually having Africa lifted from the ocean and rotated so that they technically don't have to travel at all.  The cost to the American taxpayer will no doubt be immense

Well, they to cut funding and sell it so the next old rich white Republican president can afford to have HIS gold plated. Maybe the boys in the Dominican Republic dig that sort of thing.

He's going to go back to living under a slave plantation?! Where he would be getting free food and shelter, I have been told. (Run by that cheerful man and the people who cheered him, at the Republican conference panel on "So you're tired of being called racist"!)

Nice for the taxpayers as brush clearing at the home office in Texas is probably a hell of a lot cheaper than brush touring in Africa.

um, what?
Should I post the myriad rants of the liberal hatefest of the previous president by Garafalo, Moore, West, Mahr, etc.
Here, this took about 3 seconds to google:
A. "Instead of running for governor of Florida, they ought to put him against a wall and shoot him."

B. "If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun." & "We're going to punish our enemies and we're gonna reward our friends..."

C. "A message to progressives: By all means, hang Senator Joe Lieberman in effigy."

D. "Michele, slit your wrist. Go ahead... or, do us all a better thing [sic]... start at the collarbone."

E. Barack Obama is a "light-skinned" African-American "with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one."

F. "All Hymie wants to talk about is Israel; every time you go to Hymietown, that's all they want to talk about."

G.  "You think the Republican National Committee could get this many people of color in a single room? Only if they had the hotel staff in here."

H. "How much time do we have left to talk about how stupid Sarah Palin is?"

I. Bill Maher: "You could have went to New Hampshire and killed two birds with one stone." (Senator): "Or, I could have gone to 1600 Pennsylvania and killed the real bird with one stone."
Answers: (A) Former Democratic Rep. Paul Kanjorski; (B) Barack Obama in 2008 and 2010; (C) New York Times columnist Paul Krugman; (D) Talk show host Montel Williams, directed at Rep. Michele Bachmann; (E) Senator Harry Reid, 2008; (F) Reverend Jesse Jackson, 1984; (G) DNC Chairman Howard Dean; (H) The Washington Post's Richard Cohen on CNN; (I) Senator John Kerry on HBO's "Real Time."

Robert Byrd, and so many others. Does your pre-emption make the Klan any less racist? That would be a neat trick to use to negate every argument, if it wasn't, you know...potato logic.
Keep throwing up those Potemkin facades, somebody will believe your logic. If you do convert that idiot with this argument, you can keep him.

Did you happen to notice that two of your examples were directed at Democrats?

And how reflective of the average lefty voter's opinions do you think those statements are?

We don't tend to elect and support people who embrace hate. And we are usually quick to say that something is unacceptable whether it comes from our side or not.

I also notice that you are very quick to respond to vitriol by saying "They do it too!" instead of condemning the kinds of attacks (very racist and personal) the first family has faced.

Remember that hate groups have increased more than 800% since this president was first elected. That's pretty alarming and I would like to see more outcry from a loyal opposition and less jokes about the race of the Obamas and lies about how they conduct themselves.

And yet Senator Byrd, who was once a despicable man in many ways, evolved and the Klan doesn't seem to attract many adherents these days.

We all ought to question our beliefs and test them as we mature. President Obama said of his life that it was one "bent toward justice."

And then in the here and now, Colin Powell looks at the right and has this to say,

"

There's also a dark - a dark vein of intolerance in some parts of the party. What do I mean by that? I mean by that that they still sort of look down on minorities. How can I evidence that?

When I see a former governor say that the President is "shuckin' and jivin'," that's racial era slave term. When I see another former governor after the president's first debate where he didn't do very well, says that the president was lazy. He didn't say he was slow. He was tired. He didn't do well. He said he was lazy. Now, it may not mean anything to most Americans, but to those of us who are African Americans, the second word is shiftless and then there's a third word that goes along with that. The birther, the whole birther movement. Why do senior Republican leaders tolerate this kind of discussion within the party?"

Will you also acknowledge the problems in a party that has essentially lost any hope of support among non-whites and the people who care about social justice?

I don't think you understand my post at all. I don't care if they direct their hate speech at their own or not, there is still a lot of vile that comes from the left. Your pronouncement of pride in self policing is... disingenuous, at best. Do I think these are reflective of the average? Oh hell yes. These are people very much in the spotlight and I rarely hear of a leftwing denouncement of these statements. Your claim that you, as a party I'm assuming, condemn this hate speech is not evidenced in either popular culture or political party.
It's not that you do it too. It's that you do it, period. Bush derangement syndrome, the vileness thrown at Palin, the OWS destruction of property, etc. are just the tip of the left wing hatefest.
Also, I could care less the BHO is half black. This vocal minority of dunces that use race to either condemn or elevate people are to be ignored. I just pat them on their head and give them a lollie to calm them down.

Sure. Republican racists, just like liberal racists should be condemned at every turn. This goes double for politicians.
btw - I think the "lazy" complaint of Powell's is a stretch. If people would have called BHO "slow" as he proposed, the retardation allusion would have been sounded. To extrapolate the word lazy to mean "lazy, shiftless Nubian" is a bit of verbal gymnastics that is frankly, beneath him. Sometimes lazy is just what people mean, as in ill prepared because you did not take the opposition seriously. When society is getting down to inventing terms (dog whistle) to point out inferred racism (lazy) then we are really stretching into the ridiculous. There's enough blatant racism for everyone to condemn.

Point out some officials in the Democratic party who spout racist comments and I will condemn them. I must have missed it.

I found the use of the term lazy to be very offensive. He may not have meant it that way but giving him the benefit of the doubt, at best he comes off as ignorant and insensitive.

How about you watch the conventions again as a refresher course on which party represents inclusion?

I have to go now and work for a state delegate on fundraising. I wish you well and encourage you to stand up for a better GOP. I long for the day when this country isn't so divided.

"Ol Bar and MO will be staying at Marthas Vineyard for the three weeks prior to their Safari. They can rest up and tan...eat Kobe beef and drink ripple and get caught up on their intimacy. Than its off to the wilds of Kenya to say hello to his 50 half brothers and the midwife who birthed him. A wonderful woman who has shown him only love and devotion. She remains unknown outside her country but her house is a ten room mansion in Nairobi since she insists he was born in Hawaii. Quid Pro Quo is universal."

It was amusing until they started insulting Obama's children.  I mean, come on, grow the fark up people.  Leave the kids out of the political bullshiat.

Absolutely. That's disgusting.

Pretty sure that ship sailed a few years ago.

The trip will cost a killion dollars a day.
A killion is, of course, a number so large that if you looked at it, it would kill you.
True story.

Pretty brilliant move. The Rape-ublicans won't be able to help themselves with thinly-veiled racist jokes, this putting Benghazi and the IRS on the backpages again.

So he's compromising again?

So once again Obama does something that every other president has done and is expected to do and the right attacks it as evil, wasteful, anti-American, and everything else they can think of.

If this is what Republicans have been reduced to, then it's time to just dissolve the party and rebuild from the ground up while keeping all of the original people out. The current crop has been completely blighted.

As a threadjack,  Labeling a buzzfeed article with the economist header in a sponsored link is dirty pool.

But don't you dare call them racists. Those are isolated incidents, each and every one of them!

Holy wow.

NephilimNexus: Obama plans to "reinforce the importance that the United States places on our deep and growing ties with countries in sub-Saharan Africa, including through expanding economic growth, investment, and trade; strengthening democratic institutions; and investing in the next generation of African leaders," Carney said.

I seem to recall an article not too long ago about how Bush had done a better job of helping Africans by investing money in treatment (but not prevention) of AIDS .  I guess it's okay, if you are a Republican.  This is bad news . . . for Obama.

Really? The stupid feckers are nit-picking marines holding an umbrella over HEADS OF STATE? That's just protocol, stupids. But I suppose every photo of marines holding umbrellas went down the memory hole.

Presidents do not have to hold their own umbrellas when they are giving a speech*.

www.theatlanticwire.com

Their Mummies do it for them.

*Or putting. That's what Marines and Caddies are for.

I'm ready for Obama's trip.

Figures on Bush. Check.

Comparisons with the Crowned Heads of Europe, Old and New:

King Lear had fewer men--before he surrended his crown to Regan and Gonneril and they started cutting him back until he had only his Fool (if I recall correctly, the Fool's name was Murdoch or Rupert or something).

Fact: The US President travels with a bigger Praetorian Guard than the more unpopular Roman Emperors. Thousands of staff and officials and media have travelled with every President in recent times since Nixon went to Latin America and was mocked by MAD even more mercilessly than Dan Quayle.

Fact: The Queen of England travels with a staff of eight. (Although her Dominions supply further security personnel, to the tune of a score or so, and a couple of thousand police can be employed in crowd control and other routine duties.)

Fact checks of the BS that political pundits spew from every orifice in their bodies:

Oh, yeah, I'm readier than SpongeBob Squarepants.

You could have just said "I'm a Libertarian"  Republican who calls himself a Libertarian to avoid having to admit voting for Bush twice at the beginning and saved everyone time.
