Considering that Kathie Lee Gifford is by all accounts a biatch on skates, it doesn't surprise me that she'd
be in solidarity with her male counterpart, since having him around takes the heat off her.

Defend Ann?  Kathie was probably leading the crew that was screwing with her.

Ann's smart, a talented real news person, and holds her age better.  Triple threat.

Matt Lauer's greatest talent is remaining employed by NBC.  Take that away from him and he'll be waiting tables.

Once again you have provided me with a future song title.

When Lauer leaves, he can take that coont with him and go over to oprah's channel. It'll be win-win for everyone, except Oprah.

Lauer may be a douchebag, but I'll take him over Ann Curry any day. She was good on the touchy/feely stuff, but was in over her head on any serious interview. I don't think I ever saw her ask an intelligent impromptu question.

Ann was an excellent field reporter.

Oh, and...

Lauer is an asshole, but at least he earned it, same with Kathie Lee Gifford. Ann Curry is just some rich-girl hack whose daddy created her career. She's also a horribly unkind person.

A cool story bro isn't a bunch of dumbass assertions. Make with the details or GTFO.

Did Kathie ever rebel on behalf of those sweatshop kids?

/BEFORE one of them went public?

This more than likely, Ann had more reporting talent in her morning shiats than half the hacks over there at NBC. The only person over there that has any room to deride Ann would be Richard Engel.

That guy has brass balls the size of Texas

She got fired for the opposite reason. The dude in charge of Today publicly stated that she was good at hard news stories, but weak on celebrity interviews and cooking segments and that's why she wasn't fit to continue.

I agree.  Ann Curry may be a nice person, a funny person and/or an empathetic person...but it didn't translate on the show.  When she would do the human interest stories, she came off cold, unsympathetic almost condescending.  Like she was trying really hard to be warm, but she just came off looking/sounding fake.  As far as the cooking bits/fashion bits/what-to-buy for christmas bits...she just didn't seem to have the ability to be spontaneous, have fun or show any ability of quick-wit or able to "get the joke".

She just made for bad TV in the role she took over for Meredith.  I think she would do well on a hard news show, but not a "people" show

Depressing, isn't it? "Sure, you're a talented reporter, but we really didn't need reporters - we just wanted the gravitas of having one on staff, as no one takes us seriously. So, we'll belittle you, hound you, and then laugh as you're led away, because we're a "people" show."

I'd say that Ann Curry needed to be picked up by a real news organization, but as there aren't any left outside of public radio in the United States, she'd have to move to wherever she could get hired by either the BBC or Al Jazeera.

I wondered the same thing. Seems to be a lot of criticism from career welfare parasites.

Ann Curry's dad did what?...

Her dad was a part-Cherokee career Navy guy - he met her Japanese mom while stationed in post-WWII Japan.
Not exactly a career boost for being on NBC.

As for Ann being 'horribly unkind'... how the heck do you know that?

/if anyone had daddy's help, its Matt Lauer. His Romanian Jewish dad was a bike co. exec.
Lauer got to be a talk-show host in Providence R.I. even tho he never finished his college degree.
