Grandparents just got passed up and it's headed towards my "Fathers" house. This is the craziest I've seen in years.

2013-05-20 04:37:19 PM

solaufein: Aaaannnddd... It's gone.

After, what, taking out a hospital and 2 schools, was it?

Mother of God.

2013-05-20 04:37:23 PM
They are going to blame me for this. They blame everything on me.

...sigh

2013-05-20 04:37:23 PM
"Looks like there's going to be another tornado to the right of that one"

Sweet lord.

"Everything to the south of here is obliterated."

2013-05-20 04:37:32 PM
Hopefully winding down and roping out

2013-05-20 04:37:41 PM
And within seconds it farking disappears....

2013-05-20 04:37:46 PM

Skywolf the Scribbler: I've seen an EF2 in person. It was scary. But this looks like an EF4 or 5. What's the best course of action? Get out of the cars and run for basements?

Get underground.

2013-05-20 04:37:50 PM
The good news in this, although it's not much, is that we've known for days that these storms were coming.
Today, on the second day, people will be more cautious and take better safety precautions.

2013-05-20 04:37:52 PM
"Nightmare scenario"

Those are just not good words.

2013-05-20 04:37:54 PM
It's never good when the police use words like "obliterated" to describe the situation.

2013-05-20 04:38:08 PM
I was in Norman during the 1999 Moore tornado.  And during the OKC bombing.  I thought I could help by leaving.  Sorry, OKC.

This storm isn't done. It'll produce another, and soon.

2013-05-20 04:38:25 PM
"Some really impressive DBZ values with that..."

I wonder if they're... OVER 9000!

Blues_X: My wife works in downtown OKC. It's going to take hours for her to get home tonight.

This is not fun.

Is your cute neighbor home, maybe you could comfort them a little?

Crotchrocket Slim: ITT people who were pissing and moaning about the placement of New Orleans, LA will somehow come up with a flimsy and convenient rationalization as to why "flyover country" is an ideal place to live.

How about "when the tornado leaves, the ocean doesn't try to drain into Oklahoma City"?

where's my coffee!? i always have coffee when i watch radar

it's just regrouping.

2013-05-20 04:40:28 PM
It's close to hitting the television station that's broadcasting. Oh, man.

2013-05-20 04:40:28 PM
Wow, the helicopter footage is amazing.  I've never seen a tornado 'rope-out' and dissipate live, but it was fascinating to watch.  If it weren't so awful it would be beautiful.

2013-05-20 04:40:37 PM
Well, now it's gone back up into the clouds. Hopefully for good. There's another one (not as big, I don't think) south of there, in the Paul's Valley area.

SpikeStrip: where's my coffee!? i always have coffee when i watch radar

Well played fellow coffee drinker

2013-05-20 04:40:54 PM
I bet some fish and crawdads and frogs are found in odd places after it goes over that lake

I've gotta look that footage up when I'm not at work.

Yup.  That's my thought exactly.

This is the worst American disaster I've seen in my lifetime.

I have a cute neighbor now?

2013-05-20 04:43:01 PM
Jesus bloody Christ there is nothing there.

2013-05-20 04:43:02 PM
Holy crap!!!

The entire neighborhood is gone!

ArtosRC: This storm isn't done. It'll produce another, and soon.

Tornadoes are easily frightened, but they'll soon be back. And, in greater numbers. We must be cautious.

This is insane. I'm watching the news9 feed, and I'm impressed with the guy driving toward the tornado. I hope he stays safe.

Seeing the devastated school is heartbreaking, and I'm praying all the kids are all right.

2013-05-20 04:43:47 PM
Oh, and like yesterday, the link isn't as good as the other stuff out there.
http://www.newson6.com/Global/category.asp?C=207223&BannerId=990  for example.
(It's a Tulsa station currently using the OKC feed, it will change over when it gets to Tulsa territory)

2013-05-20 04:43:55 PM
Holy cow, it went just south of Moore, didn't it? Farker was so big and strong, it was completely differentiated on the radar.

2013-05-20 04:43:59 PM
Metro complex, schools, and hospitals. God. This is bad. This is very, very bad.

2013-05-20 04:44:07 PM
Bark stripped off the trees. Which is easy to see because there's no buildings left.

Radar shows back-building into Tuttle & Mustang.

If that's authentic from this storm, that's easily EF4.

2013-05-20 04:44:42 PM
This just proves that all housing structures should be made entirely made out of eletric line poles.

2013-05-20 04:44:49 PM
Just heard someone over the radio/comms for PD in OKC say "the entire town is gone" that's just f'ing scary.

2013-05-20 04:44:49 PM
Well, we're getting aerial footage of damage now. In Moore. Lots of obliterated houses.

2013-05-20 04:45:26 PM
Another possible funnel near the lake.

2013-05-20 04:45:31 PM
There's no way there aren't any casualties from that...

2013-05-20 04:45:34 PM
omg the school

That's a good way of describing tornadoes.
