heh,  a few years back i bought 2 baby pygmy goats as a prop for my halloweeen costume (shepherd) .  they mowed this guys entire lawn in the few hours i was at the party.  Having tghem butchered afterwards to eat was going ot cost more than i paid for them in the first place, so  i was going to just cut them loose in his neighborhood as a prank, but some dude at the party that had several acres outside of town adopted them from me for his daughters instead. I had them named Shank and Chop but the girls renamed them.

Lightly sear with a little salt and pepper. Serve with buttered rolls, corn and asparagus.

The one I did today is just getting roasted in the oven with a rub of coffee, cocoa, various hot peppers, garlic and whatnot, while the ribs are going in our mini-grill covered in Stubb's BBQ sauce. Also saving one leg for the crockpot.

The last one we did, I brined him in a cooler overnight with white wine and lemon juice, then smoked him for 7 hours using a smoky garlic butter and some other stuff.

I don't really have any specific recipes, but one hint is if you want it to taste more like beef, use white wine, and if yu want it to be more like pork, use red wine. Also, eat them young. Anything over a year goes in a crockpot.

Mmmmm, goat.

Also, the aforementioned things only work for Nigerian Dwarf goats, AFAIK, as I haven't done anything else yet. We have a nubian who gets one chance to breed. If she doesn't get pregnant, then she's going in my belly.

Cool, I appreciate the tips. Have a wonderful feast tonight!

Wish it was easier and more economical to find things like goat, rabbit and lamb around here....

There's a bunch of Facebook groups centered around selling, breeding, and buying goats for whatever purpose. Try one of them. Or, if you're feeling brave, ethnic food markets generally know where to get some.

Farmer's markets sometimes are a source for unusual meats.

Loves me some goat chili.

It takes bravery to go to an ethnic food market? Sheesh.

/Surrounded by carnicerias, Asian groceries and halal markets. VERY easy to get goat, duck, rabbit. Guinea pig takes a bit more searching.

Not necessarily, but sometimes they aren't the cleanest places in the world. The Mexican carnecerias are generally the nicest ones of the bunch. And I wasn't specifically talking about buying meat there; I mean asking where you can buy a whole, live goat.

Nothing like a goat slow-roasted on a spit. Pro-tip- if you have squeamish neighbours, kill the goat first.
