YoungSwedishBlonde: neversubmit: Maybe, in an odd way, we should thank her for what she did to Romney's presidential campaign.

Romney Tortures Jennifer Rubin

On the one hand, Rubin's deepest roots lie in ultra-hawkish pro-Israel neoconservatism. On the other hand, Rubin has appointed herself unofficial spokesperson for Mitt Romney's presidential campaign, using her blog to record a daily procession of Romney's wise choices and brilliant triumphs, along with the pathetic failures of all who challenge him.

I'm not gonna say it's because he's black, but since no other president in the history of the country has had to deal with this much idiocy - not even the white president who WAS born in a different country - on a day-to-day basis...

We get it, he's black.

Really? Bush takes 09/11/01 as an excuse to invade a country the hi-jackers didn't come from on the premise of WOMADs that didn't exist, and then on to Afghanistan, on the belief that the boogie man is there, while shipping billions of dollars over on pallets that promptly disappeared, and Bin Laden get's Whacked on Obama's watch, and suddenly it's a scandal that a bunch of brown people over there actually whacked a couple of people at am embassy?
Really?

The fact that Obama hasn't produced the document saying "I've officially ordered the Hitlering of everything, forever" pretty much is either an admission that the document exists and he's hiding it, or he isn't interested in proving that it doesn't exist.

I think it's primarily because the Republican party has seriously gone off the rails of sanity, and Obama is just the unfortunate one to be stuck dealing with them.

But some of it has to do with him being a different color than them, yes.

plewis: Yes.  Just what you need, a blood bath.  I'm sure the GOP wouldn't use that to kick up a shiatstorm of innuendo and BS while you have just robbed yourself of the people most capable of helping you manage your PR and opening yourself up for confirmation hearings when someone actually has to step in and do the job the outgoing guy was doing perfectly well ... until you canned him for no reason.  Good idea, twatwaddle.

Yeah, it would be a pretty dumb move to fire anyone, or even let anyone resign over any of these issues seeing as the GOP have made clear they will block virtually all new appointments, regardless of whether they are crippling the administration (of course really this is exactly why they are doing it) - even though they obviously know things like Benghazi are more likely without people filling these senior positions. It would be absolutely hilarious if it ends up during an investigation into Benghazi that the reason nothing had been done about increasing the security was because the post that would normally be dealing with such requests was empty due to a GOP filibuster.

Jackson Herring: seriously what the fark is going on today? an honest to goodness jennifer farking rubin greenlight?

Admins was cut off by a car with an Obama bumper sticker today and they are very bitter.

Ok, they didnt actually see the bumper sticker on the car. And to be honest, there was nothing indicating that it was an Obama supporter in that car, but their gut tells them it was. And actually, the admins was probably not cut off by this car but that car did change lanes without signalling. And upon retrospect, they did signal and were actually about 20 car lengths behind the admins, but tve fact remains that the admins was most likely cut off in front by an Obama supporter.

And upon further thought, the admins was really at home at the time when this happened.

Here's an idea:

If a bunch of screaming heads are trying to convince the nation that the president is embroiled in Nixonian scandals when it's verifiable that none of it is true, we would want a president who is mature, intelligent and unflappable enough that he (or she) would ignore it and tend to the actual business of running the country.

I agree with the headline. This administration has a real problem with confusing "misrepresentation" with "spin". It's one thing to try to put the best face on ugly news, it's something else to intentionally say things that simply are not so. They could save themselves a lot of greif, and maintain better credibility if they were more deft at massaging the narratives without resorting to distortions. I don;t think Obama is crafting this messaging, I think it is his people, and they are not doing a good job.

It's understandable that they wanted to play down the unfortunate events in Benghazi on the eve of an election because it was an organized pre-meditated attack, and the election narrative was that Obama had "kept us safe" (which, buy the way is pretty much true). And while it was probably true that this could not have been predicted, the mistake was in trying to use the video and charicterize it as a "spontaneous" event, when they knew that was demonstrably disprovable that it was a spontaneous atack.

It's understandable that they wanted to distance themselves from the IRS wrong actions, and I think they did that well initially, but they went too far in trying to make that absolute by sayting things like "we didn't know anything about it", and "it was becasue of a flood of applciations". Had they just stopped at "That was unnaceptable and when the report comes in and when we know WHICH heads need to roll, they will". Instead they first tried to say it was overzealous rogue agents at a local office, then that no one directed them to, then that no one at the White House had been informed. And each time it turned out that wasn't actually true.

And the AP thing is even worse so far.

They keep shooting themsleves in the foot by going too far and getting busted on the details they have distorted. Obama needs to clean house and see if he can borrow some of the Clinton crew. I respect his loyalty to his team, but it's becoming clear that  what worked in Chicago just isn't getting the job done in the White House.

I am far less concerned about the actuall worngdoing in each of these cases (though I am concerned) than I am with the corrosive effect that this is havihng overall. If the American people can't even trust the golden boy to shoot straight with them, then it looks like we simply can't trust ANYone in government. And that's toxic to a democracy. I may disagrewe with a lot of Obama's policies, but I don;t want to see that kind of damage done. i can't stop the Republicans for criticizing everything he does, but I really wish his people would stop saying things that later turn out to be false.
