Considering that he's quoting the meme, I'd guess not. Do you need it explained?

Definitely "All your bases." I haven't heard of that one before. Maybe then Ed Gruberman can explain to you the meme he was referencing, which uses a similar line containing the phrase "all your base"

You could go after him for saying Tau Centi instead of Tau Ceti.

Thanks for reminding me why I don't read xkcd anymore. Also it reminds me that Randall got dumped from NASA because he spent all his time being "zany" (like having office chair races with himself) and not actually doing anything useful.

This is the geek tab. If they don't like webcomics, they came to the wrong neighborhood.

You need to add a little extra to propulsion tech in the beginning. Then even it out after awhile to have the shield and weapons tech to take Orion.

Didn't make sense when I saw it on XKCD, still doesn't make sense.  The internet isn't broadcast media...sure you have your wifi and satellite ISPs, but they're relatively low power and very much request/response vs let's blast out all the channels all the time, tune in if you want.  Maybe I'm overthinking this...or maybe we have a fiber link to alpha centauri that nobody's sharing with me?

Considering that most memes today get some air time once the MSM finds out about them (usually 6 months after the internet has moved on) I'm OK with the comic as an example.

You'er overthinking it. The idea that aliens could leech off our communications is wishful thinking, at the very best, so no need to take it seriously.

Well I knew that, inverse square and all, but you know...more feasible to pick up television/radio than internet by several orders of magnitude, even if both probabilities are vanishingly small.

Hmm...does the internet use satellite connections, at all?
