[Spiffy] his clothes after they dry out?

2013-05-20 12:28:12 PM
Five minute break each hour?  Lame.

"Trapped like beavers!"

2013-05-20 12:29:04 PM
I don't remember the details, but back in the mid 50's dad and a bunch of his airforce buddies from Lowry afb rode the original Mr. Twister for some sort of marathon

2013-05-20 12:31:03 PM
After all that, I hope he takes a day off.

2013-05-20 12:36:42 PM
Was he on the clock?

2013-05-20 12:38:16 PM

xanadian: After all that, I hope he takes a day off.

That's actually funny. He was on the radio here this morning and said he had the day off so he could relax. I guess 2 days of doing nothing is pretty tiring.

2013-05-20 12:39:03 PM
Can you OD on dramamine?

2013-05-20 12:42:37 PM
So he's unemployed.

2013-05-20 12:44:05 PM
Give me enough empty Snapple bottles, and I could do it easily.

I'm going to need the wide mouth variety...

Bueller?

2013-05-20 12:49:49 PM

ha-ha-guy: Five minute break each hour?  Lame.

This. If he took breaks beyond a bathroom break twice daily, then the record is nonsense. (Or at least, all he takes is the record for "staying awake the longest while mostly being on a Ferris Wheel."

2013-05-20 12:49:50 PM
OK, exactly which record is this?  He was on there for what, 48 hours?  DJ Larry "Snortin" Norton rode a Ferris Wheel for something like 20 days back in the 1980s.

Evil Mackerel: unemployed

worse, he works for the city.

They should reconstruct the world's original Ferris Wheel from the 1893 Chicago World's Fair. It was 264 feet high, it had 36 cars and each car held over 60 people plus a conductor. Now, THAT'S a Ferris Wheel.

2013-05-20 12:51:30 PM
I never checked how tall that Ferris wheel is at Navy Pier, but I had friends that lived on the 57th floor at North Pier Tower, and that thing wasn't too far below the level of the window overlooking the Pier.

Done in three.

Clinton Shepherd spent 48 hours, 8 minutes and 25 seconds riding Navy Pier's Ferris wheel over the weekend. Shepherd is park operations manager at Navy Pier.
He calls it "a very overwhelming experience," and further added, "Like the fella says, in Italy for 30 years under the Borgias they had warfare, terror, murder, and bloodshed, but they produced Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, and the Renaissance. In Switzerland they had brotherly love - they had 500 years of democracy and peace, and what did that produce? The cuckoo clock. So long Holly."

Save Ferris.

It is 150' tall.  Somehow I do not think that the floors at North Pier Tower are only a couple feet tall.

I always drank heavily when I was their guest, so kinda the pink elephant. Thought it was bigger that it was.  hic

SkittleBrau: Bueller?

Anybody?

2013-05-20 01:13:40 PM
ok i'll admit it:  i don't get the "gets off and tumbles into water".

i must have missed a meme.

Hey, in fairness, they're almost exactly the same size.

And by almost exactly the same size, I mean that the Ferris wheel is barely one-quarter the height of North Pier Tower.

/Cheating slightly and pretending all the floors are of equal height, it would reach to the 16th floor, with Matthew Keene's drunk ass pointing excitedly from 41 floors further up saying "Man, that thing's as tall as we are!"

I'm figuring Subby's going with either dizzy or sleep-deprived. The latter makes more sense. And then the Ferris Wheel is on a pier, so yeah. Water.

I hope you drank heavily because they provided good booze and not because they were boring people.

And maybe recreate Dr. Holmes' World's Fair Hotel as a haunted house during Halloween.

They were far from boring. Good booze, gay S & M, tie up games, handcuffs and tasers. It was a blast!

I don't get why it's important to stay awake.  Aren't you still riding the thing if you're asleep?  Shouldn't the record be for "staying awake on a ferris wheel?"

me thinks you may be thinking of the FW in the UK the tourists enjoy. the stats you mention are eerily similar.

came here for a third man reference.

The most dangerous part of the whole stunt was being in that water.

There's a reason the beaches are closed for 90% of the summer and it ain't the zebra mussels.

2013-05-20 03:48:28 PM
He should have gone for a simultaneous record of wolfing down Chicago Dogs or Pizza.

2013-05-20 04:15:46 PM
He had a big screen tv to play video games and watch movies and he had a catered, candle light meal with his girlfriend.  Don't really see why this is an accomplishment.

I would drink heavily because I would be spending time by Navy Pier.

2 days on a Ferris Wheel???

Amateur.

5 people spent SEVENTY (70) days on a rickety wooden rollercoaster in San Diego in 2007.

So, chances are that when you look out at the Ferris Wheel you were probably hanging upside down from the balcony, right?

That is so stupid.

I really have to wonder who gives a shiat about some pointless crap like this. Who farkin cares how long someone was on a Ferris wheel? Seriously, it's meaningless.

The Guinness Book of World Records has turned into more of a retard hall of fame. They records they accept now are farking stupid. See!

"His gondola on the wheel was specially outfitted with a big-screen TV, cushions and curtains."

Wow, he was really roughing it. And for two whole days.
