My predictions for this thread: AD didn't get a chance to shine, Fox gave AD a chance but they hemorrhaged viewers, David Cross is a douche, David Cross is awesome, FOX doesn't care about good television, FOX is a business. But one thing is for sure, Firefly fans will shiat all over this.

Savage Belief: Who really farking cares?

Damned good question.

The show died once and is gonna die again.
Sick of people triumphing niche shows that weren't that good to begin with - 'Firefly' anyone?

If anything people should be screaming for ABC to bring back 'Better Off Ted'.

In all fairness, I am kind of screaming for that.

/I'd also like some more Pushing Daisies while we're at it.

I care. I can't wait for this Sunday! I hope Netflix has leased additional capacity for the traffic that's going to hit them on May 26. :)

It's the power of Ron Howard and nothing else.

Ron Howard got the show on, he got the show more chances that no other TV show ever gets. Now he gets the show new eps and a movie for it's dozens of fans.

It's Lorne Michaels type juice.

Came here to say this as well - she pretty much takes up the whole left frame of the group photo.

/ I find her lack of knee resolution... disappointing.

Netflix must be pretty well aware of how many of their members are watching and re-watching Arrested Development through their streaming service. Since they are the ones paying for another season they must know that this is not going to be a huuuuge mistake.

My favorite part of that interview was where Mitch Hurwitz says that the whole key to this happening was big corporations doing something that they never do anymore, which is to go out on a limb to do something new and interesting and different.

It will be interesting to see how this goes with the show changing to a totally new format. With each episode focusing on what a different character has been doing for the last 8 years it will be a big change from how each episode flowed in the first three seasons. I'm not worried at all. I can't wait to see what that osterich running through the living room is all about. I'm guessing it has to be part of one of Gob's tricks ILLUSIONS.

Weird, seeing as how her dress covers her knees and her legs appear to be slender.

Every one of these headlines winds up tricking me for a second because I really want them to be about the awesome band and not the show.

We are legally obligated to point out that Motherboy is also the name of a band.

Good read.  Excited for this and hoping Netflix doesn't crash on Sunday.

Good for you.

You also left off the point of the post that you quoted, which is that AD is not going to be anything like what you guys are remembering through your rose-colored glasses.  I have a feeling you ignored that part because you realize it's true, having watched Futurama go through the same thing.

I have never seen the show, but Rolling Stone doing an article about the show and not the band is just criminal.

That point has nothing to do with "Who cares"?

Arrested Development sucked, get over it.

The acting was so poor it put the burden of the story on the narrator, who was known for an inattention to detail and laziness.  Real shoddy narrating, just pure crap

Hey, at least he/she remains quite savage in voicing his/her beliefs.  For that, can we really hate on him/her?

I'm excited about this. I'm getting Netflix for the first time just so I can watch the new season of AD, and some buddies are coming over to marathon the new episodes. Because the first month of Netflix is free, if the episodes suck it won't cost me anything more than an afternoon, a pizza and some beer.

My expectations are pretty reasonable: the new material won't be as great as the first three seasons, but should be funny regardless. Just like Futurama.

Nope.  And that's the basic problem with hauling something back from the dead like this.  You never get the cast as they were in that moment, you never get the writers as they were in that moment and you never get the feel of it quite right.

Is there still "something" there?  Eh, possibly.  The devout and faithful will eat it up.  But the real test will be if it makes it to a second and third season and what that can mean to Netflix in the future.

No matter how successful the run on Netflix is, this series Netflix is producing is only going to be a bridge to an AD movie or possibly a new series in a very different format.

Can we at least wait for it to be released until we start making judgements on it?

Wait, never mind.  Forgot where I was.  Carry on.

You should watch the AD episode Motherboy XXX. You should watch the show anyway but that episode in particular used the attempted lawsuit by the band against the show as a joke.
