It's actually a good question.  I don't see any huge scandal, but the administration sure seems to be trying to make it look like there is one.

I think many people would say "good" if the IRS was targeting tea party groups.

Doesn't that sound ridiculous to you? "They're awfully defensive about these allegations." Duh, you generally defend yourself when accused of a thing.

Or perhaps I should just be asking "what makes you think the administration is "trying to make it look like one"?

Some of us are old enough to tell you that you're full of rancid shiat.

More than twenty thousand American soldiers died waiting for Nixon to end the Vietnam war like he promised in 1968.

/Just to stave off the inevitable right winger's b-b-but Kennedy: I bring to your attention Major Dale R. Buis and Sergeant Chester M. Ovnand (killed by the Vietcong in 1959) and Tech. Sgt. Richard Bernard Fitzgibbon Jr. the very first Vietnam-era casualty (died in the line of duty in 1956).

2013-05-20 09:40:45 AM
So what he's basically saying is that Nixon said about Watergate, "There's nothing to see here, we have better shiat to do than worry about this" and he turned out to be guilty, therefore anyone ever accused of anything who says  "There's nothing to see here, we have better shiat to do than worry about this" is automatically guilty. Well I'm sold. IMPEACH!

I think the tipping point for the media was when they learned the Justice Department was monitoring some of them.

Then it became a "There is two kinds of people in the World:  Us, and them.  You're them" kind of thing with the media.  They didn't really get too worked up about the administration's alleged scandals until it was their goose getting cooked.

Remember that time the Nixon administration released all their emails, fired the head of the IRS who misled congress and implemented the Inspector General's recommendations  to clean house?

Yes, Bob, this is pretty much exactly like what Obama is doing.......

(The Oval Office, September 13, 1971)

PRESIDENT NIXON: Billy Graham told us an astonishing thing. The IRS are badgering the shiat out of him. Some son-of-a-biatch came and gave him a three-hour grilling about how much he, you know, how much this contribution is worth. And he told it to [John] Connally. Well, Connally took the name of the guy [unclear]. But, now look, I've just got to get that name out of Connally when you get back. Now, they've gone after Billy Graham and he didn't know it. Now here's the point, Bob: please get me the names of the Jews, you know, the big Jewish contributors of the Democrats.

HALDEMAN: Mm-hmm.

PRESIDENT NIXON: And remember [unclear] [John] Ehrlichman, I guess, or somebody.

HALDEMAN: [Unclear.]

PRESIDENT NIXON: All right. Could we please investigate some of the cawksuckers? That's all. Now look at here. Here our IRS is going after Billy Graham tooth and nail. Are they going after Eugene Carson Blake?

(The Oval Office: January, 1, 1973)

PRESIDENT NIXON: What about (Edward) Bennett Williams? That's one of the (IRS) files that should be pulled.

COLSON: Should be.

PRESIDENT NIXON: That's my point.

(The Oval Office: March 30, 1973)

PRESIDENT NIXON: Is his income tax being checked yet, or have we got our man (new IRS head, Donald Alexander) in yet?

HALDEMAN: We nominated him, but he isn't confirmed. He isn't there.

PRESIDENT NIXON: Well, you know damn well he (Weicker) didn't report this income, so we'll just say that.

HALDEMAN: Oh, he'll get around that. He'll just say it was a campaign contribution.

PRESIDENT NIXON: Oh, I know. I know. But if he didn't report itas a campaign contribution, he's broken the law.

He's right, it's not Watergate. It will eventually be revealed to be worse.

Because acting like it is shows strength and makes Republicans want to attack more, making the argument that they aren't doing anything easier to make to a voting public in 2014.

Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

BOB, like on 9/11/12 was absent when that lesson was taught.

And yes, Benghazi isn't like Watergate. No one died in Watergate.

The republicans have been trying since the day Cater took office to find a SCANDLE "just like Watergate" to sully the Democrats with.

Just a coincidence that both stem from a republican White House I am sure.

No one understood why Nixon was so weird about Watergate until it became clear why he was so weird about Watergate, either.

I dunno, Bob, why does the mainstream media treat every whine from the GOP like it's the discovery of the lost Nixon tapes, with nothing edited out, but fail to mention when it's discovered just to be a tape of one of the Palin kids repeating "N" bombs for hours on end?

Schieffer seems to be saying, "We don't get the heavyweights on our show as we would prefer, so that we can continue to blow this up and make it look bigger than it is."  If the White House chief of staff appears, then that can be taken as evidence that this must be a really big deal, instead of a mole hill being blown up into a mountain.  KENYAN TRYING TO USE HIS HEAVYWEIGHTS TO COVER UP.  PROOF OF COVER UP.

It's good that didn't happen then. Also, how could a non-political non-prophet be a political opponent?
