A liberal doesn't care for what a center right politician has or hasn't done? Well, I'm shocked

In Obama's defense, the JOBS dial is right next to the RETAIL GAS PRICE knob on the Economy Controller Machine and they're not labeled very clearly. It's a mistake anyone can make.

Actually they are the same knobs. More jobs directly correlate with higher gas prices as more people commute and can afford gas. Notice how gas prices plummeted in 2008 when no-one could afford to buy gas anymore.

Tough call, but Kucinich's wife is a natural red vs. Hendrick's dye job. The only way I could come to a decision is by personal audition - preferably both at the same time.

Obama's done nothing on jobs except to improve the employment environment in the US.

Question:

If companies are the ones doing the hiring, and they're sitting on piles of cash and profits, how is that Obama's fault?

2013-05-20 08:14:55 AM
Well of course. Obama's been too busy hiding the REAL Benghazi evidence.

Uncertainty.

A business venture was never an uncertain thing before the blah guy got in the White House.

Because of regulations and uncertainty and furthermore,

If employment is down because people are resorting to taking lower-paying jobs, then it should be shouted as loudly as possible that the employment numbers being presented are misleading. Whether it takes a dyed in the wool liberal or a staunch conservative, it doesn't matter. Only truth matters.

Because he is black, and no right thinking business owner is going to employ people and make a black president's job figures look good.

2013-05-20 08:30:59 AM
Well, considering that the banks and investment firms are doing just fine, I don't think there's any reason for anyone in the government to do anything about jobs.

Except, of course, pay lip service to the people they ostensibly represent.

That's funny.
Does that explain why gas prices went through the roof when we had 5 percent unemployment?

It's not, directly, but he could take measures to incentivize spending that money on things like hiring new workers or investing in new technology.  Things like offering tax breaks for each new employee hired would reduce the cost of hiring a new employee and make it more appealing.  Alternatively, tax penalties or just increased taxes on businesses (you could even have qualifiers like "must have  x number of employees) would give the government more money to pay down debt or redirect it into publicly funded projects that would hire some of those unemployed.  Of course, this would require getting a bill passed, which in this Congress is virtually a pipe dream.

Fox Hunny: And now we turn to a valuable token liberal, Dennis Kucinich, who has something critical to say about Obama.  Imagine that!  Dennis?

Kucinich: Personally, I think Obama needs to be more liberal.

Fox Hunny: Thanks Dennis.  I don't know what happened to your feed at the end there, but everyone here at Fox News agrees with your careful analysis.  In other Benghazi news, ...

I don't think I will ever understand this logic.

It's admittedly been a while since I read the Federalist or Anti-Federalist Papers, but I'm almost positive "try to piss off both sides so you know you're doing a good job" isn't in there.

/Could be my fault, though, since I don't view Kucinich & Paul as equal but opposite any more than I view bacon and tofu-bacon as equal but opposite.
//Rand Paul is tofu-bacon in this example, just so we're clear.

If only he'd lower the taxes on the rich, they'd have the incentive to hire more people.

If it were me (it's not, in case you didn't know), I'd suggest a hyrbrid to Congress.  I'd redefine 'profit' to mean the money left over after paying costs and labor  excluding the CEO and before paying share-holders.  Then, I'd say all profit greater than 50% of costs or $500m, whichever comes first, will be taxed at a higher rate UNLESS it's used to pay the salaries of new, full-time employees.  I would then issue a tax break of 5% or so of that new employee's income to that business for as long as that employee works full-time for that company.

The current Bengahzi, AP, IRS witch hunt, proves that the GOP lost on the job/economy battle.  They didn't lose because Obama farked up......they lost because they didn't do a damn thing themselves and stopped any efforts by the democrats in their zealous pursuit of obstructionism in an attempt to win the last election.

I always hear that what the government needs to do in times of economic crisis is provide stability, so wouldn't emerging jobs programs be the definition of instability?  Companies wouldn't know where to invest next because the rules might change tomorrow.

While Kucinich frequently makes an ass of himself, I believe him to be intelligent. I've watched him alienate himself from a primarily centrist country, but I've seen far worse from his right wing "fringe" counterparts. Rand Paul isn't even the worst of them.
