I'm gonna miss Stefon, one of SNL's few outstanding recurring characters. With this years exodus of Hader, Meyers, Armison (possibly Sudakis), I'm hoping to see some fresh talent to revive the show.

SNL has its ups and downs, but they always find really good ways to say goodbye to the ones that have been the best.

I know that Seth Meyers is going to take over the Late Show next spring, but does that mean that he's leaving SNL now?  I figured that he would be there through the fall, and leave at the end of the year.  It can't take that long to learn how to sit behind a desk and ask questions to B-list celebrities.

Will miss Hader and Sudekis.  I thought Armisen left the show years ago, so I guess it's a surprise to see him still there.  He had a good send off with all the musicians playing.

They seemed to ignore Sudekis last night.

Damn, with the season finale of Who and all the other goodness on BBC:A I totally forgot SNL was on.

Sudekis is dating Olivia Wilde, you don't need to worry about Sudekis...

Since Hader and his family are moving to LA, if he ever comes back to host he should list LA's hottest clubs. Something like this....

"LA's hottest club is 'Poooonani!!!' Located inside a broken down semi on the 405, this place has everything..... twinks, surfers, two fused-together celebrities who call themselves 'Channing Tatum O'Neal', a breastfeeding mommmmmmm (drawn out for emphasis), the bouncer is a South Asian transvestite and the password is "gimme a steak, medium rare"

I came up with this while driving home from Opeth last night so I was a little...off.

SNL has always...ALWAYS... been very hit and miss. As with everything in life, people remember old SNLs more fondly* than the present because they forget all the godawful skits that surrounded the good ones. I imagine's hard to write funny skits in a week. At Second City in Chicago, they take eons to write a new show, test it on the second stage first, then run it on the main stage for a few more eons.

*except for the mid-late 80s. Those were worthless.

The broken-down semi and the fused-together celebrities sound like classic Stefon.

They already do an awesome skit for the region...The Californians. You even paid it tribute with your needless driving reference to a location nobody outside southern California has heard of.

Forget, or never saw in the first place.  Those of us who didn't own VCRs in the 1970's -- aka, most of us -- really only became familiar with the material from that era through the tightly edited half-hour packages that hit syndication a decade later.

that was an extra epic stefon skit! all-in-all a very good episode. it's no timberlake episode, but then again that's a very high bar to reach for.

i'm just thankful that ben afleck really does have some talents, despite common hatred of him, so he did hold his own saturday. i do wish they had another "5 timers club" induction thing, though. maybe if he gets a 6th time he can have a celebrity 5 timers party like others have had.

also enjoyed the song at the end, and all the special musical guests.

kanye is horrible, though

A really nice send-off for Stefon. Bonus: now Anderson Cooper is free!

Totally agree, but I must admit that Vanessa Bayer makes my heart flutter. Am I weird?

It took Conan the better part of a year to get "Conan" set up for TBS after the Tonight Show debacle. Gotta get staff together (writers, actors), a show band, get all these new people set up in whatever city the show will be from (probably stay in NY). Conceptualizing, designing and building a brand new set. The logistics of everything will take time before Seth even gets behind a new desk.
