In unrelated news, someone bought my 2 year old some dodge balls from WalMart. It was a 4 pack in a box labelled MADE IN THE USA, the words were inside a US flag.

When I took the 4 balls out, all 4 had made in China stamped on it. Were they bragging that the box was made in the US? Doesn't seem legit lol... =\

China's population seems close to leveling off, such that India's population is going to skyrocket past the Chinese pretty soon. And India's government is too chaotic to have anything like the one child policy of China.

There's a reason Kikkoman located their US headquarters in Walworth Wisconsin. And it's not because of their love for Dungeons & Dragons since TSR was located across the lake in Lake Geneva Wisconsin...

Does the package actually say "MADE IN AMERICA" or does it say "Assembled in..." or "Packaged in..."?     They probably come uninflated from China, and are inflated (with American air, dammit!) and then packaged and sent out.

Send Walmart a letter asking why the heck it says "Made in America" when it isn't.  I'd love to hear what they say.

They'd probably (rightly) say that they don't manufacture or package their goods, only resell what they buy from suppliers (e.g., Wal-Mart isn't making their own -- say -- Kitchen Aid mixers or Coca Cola).  They'd probably promise to relay your message to the supplier and that's the last anyone would ever hear about it.

Protip: the Chicago Mercantile Exchange no longer deals in pork bellies. That joke is no longer relevant. Also, in the words of noted scholar and economist Gallagher, bacon is not a career.

This news is actually gigantic.  American agribusiness is immense, in any sense of the word.  And with the current commodities price of soybeans at $14.50 a bushel, the amount of money involved in this is staggering.
