1. Don't forget the awesome flameout of a career that was Michael Owen is also retiring today.
2. Who is Moyles?
3. Rooney's going nowhere.
4. Carra and Scholes are both one club men. In this day and age, that should be highly respected.

As suspected, ESPN has Newcastle-Arsenal today, and Fox Soccer has Tottenham-Sunderland. It's not going to be the final day of last season, but we still might have some drama.

Moyles should be Moyes of course.
I had forgotten about Owen, and I'm not even being snarky.

Well, its not in the bag yet, but I am feeling pretty confident. To lose it from this position would write a legend.

Actually it is. You're up by 565 on Obamartins. The max point swing is 500 points (380 total perfect plus perfect banker bonus and a -120 total wrong perfect). Congratulations.

Chelsea are all but certain to qualify for the Champions League as the only thing that would prevent them would be a defeat by Everton, coupled with a Tottenham win over Sunderland, and a frankly unlikely 17-goal swing in goal difference.

Arsenal will qualify for the Champions League if they win at Newcastle, or if Tottenham fail to beat Sunderland. Tottenham can draw level on points if they draw and Arsenal lose - but Arsenal would be higher on goal difference unless they lose by an unfathomable 16+ goals.

Tottenham will qualify for the Champions League if they win and Arsenal fail to win.

The BBC missed one more important one: If Chelsea draw and Arsenal win by one goal having scored 2 or more (Chelsea 0-0, Arsenal 2-1 or Chelsea 1-1, Arsenal 3-2, etc.) then we go to THIRD PLACE PLAYOFF GAME!

And lest we forget: the fifth place team will be joined in the Europa League by FA Cup winners Wigan.

By the way, am I the only one amused by the fact that Mancini failed to outlast Ferguson?

Seriously, what kind of owners fire the manager two games before the end of the season with literally nothing left to play for... and what kind of manager would want to work under owners like that?

This whole Newcastle "incentive" is pretty cool. But I don't know if that's going to be enough to inspire that crap team to beat Arsenal, but who knows? Because if they don't, we might not see this guy in the EPL next season:

...Which should be incentive alone for Arsenal to get the win.

COME ON YOU SPURS

So as it stands today:

Champions League Group Stage:
Manchester United (lock)
Manchester City (lock)
Chelsea

Champions League Qualifier:
Arsenal

Europa League Group Stage:
Tottenham
Wigan (lock by way of FA Cup)

Europa League Qualifier:
Swansea City (lock by way of Capital One Cup)

2013-05-19 09:42:00 AM
One oddity: Only 7 teams start the day with a positive goal difference, and among those the lowest GD is +16 (Everton). The 13 teams with a negative GD are much more evenly spread from -1 through -29.

People talk about the Big Four, but is the reality that the EPL has a Big Seven fighting for five spots in Europe?

2013-05-19 09:42:31 AM
Also, this is Ian Darke's last EPL game for ESPN. Gonna miss that guy.

Rooney not in squad again, but this time because his wife's giving birth. May your child be a masculine child.

I've got Arsenal-Newcastle on TSN2, but Sportsnet doesn't say who they have.

All the best to Carragher. A one team man, and my Reds to boot. YNWA.

Jordan Ibe getting a start? Good on him. Now if Assaidi and Coady would get some time, that would be nice.

Congrats  midpoint, you pretty much owned the FFPL this season:)  Tough picks for today, but I'll be very happy with a top ten finish (although I'd take some point loss if a few teams blow it *cougharsenalcough*

COYS!

Any other good streaming sites out there? (And is HD streaming even a free option?)

Hey all, was going to go to a pub out here in Vancouver, but feeling under the weather so I am going to watch here in the hotel room.  Have Spurs on the TV, United on Sopcast and Arsenal on flash stream.

Really hoping Spurs can pip that final Champs league spot and that United can win! Everton winning would be big too, going to have to load that one on as well.

COYS!!!

2013-05-19 11:00:56 AM
I don't know why, but last year I was nowhere near as nervous going into the last match as I am this year.

Lest we forget: Ramsey sucks

Oh I was at the Vancouver Whitecaps and Portland Timbers match last night. Anyone want to see some pictures from that?  I was in the second row, right along the 18 yard line for the away side. Timbers subs warmed up right in front of us.

I have the same two streams on my laptop, split-screen while listening to the audio of Arsenal (Ian Darke) while playing Football Manager 2013 on my desktop, for the lulz

Tiebreaker playoff scenario is dead

Coutinho almost made it 1-0 from the kickoff. Man, this game's going to be good.

Great counter attacking goal from Chelsea where Mata cleans up when Howard can't hold on. Amazing goal from United as well.

Not really. Chelsea can concede to a 1-1 draw, and as long as Arsenal match them in goals scored, yet win by 1 (i.e, if Arsenal win 3-2 if Chelsea tie 1-1), it's bonus footy time.

Probably have more hair than Rooney...certainly pre hairplug Wayne

West Brom want to send SAF out on a high, so they've resorted to scoring goals against themselves.

Share away.  I've yet to make it to our home up north.  Though now live in Colorado so will be a flight there sometime.   Excited for DC away next weekend!

NAISMITH brings the playoff back in play. Arsenal now have to win 3-2.

Thanks very much. I'm just glad it wasn't the perfect opposite of the real league.

"Yeah"

.....long pause..imagine Ian giving a dirty look that says speak more Macca...

Fun Fact: Spurs could be the first team since the 90s to go all season with no penalties.

WOW on that call. That was terrible.
