Hard to successfully knock over a 7-11 when your getaway car is a walker.

Reported crime is at a all time low.  The system has finally made reporting crime more trouble than the crime.

So it's safe for me to stand here, holding my ground?

Must be the record number of concealed carry permits.

Only if it's a black kid in a hoodie, AND they have arizona iced tea pointed at you in a malicious manner.

This is not withstanding other statutes in Florida Code Annotated.

Eighty people were murdered in Broward in 2012 compared with 59 in 2011.

So except for that 35% increase in the murder rate that's some good police work there Lou. At least the newspapers still know how to bury the lead and the murderers know how to bury the lead.

Well, yeah... Broward and Palm Beach counties are full of yankee liberals... so the criminals know that they are probably unarmed. (And probably can't design ballots nor vote worth a damn either.)

/that ought to do it

Exactly!  I lived in Florida three separate times logging about 15 years in the state.  I reported drug activity in my apartment complex.  They told me they couldn't do anything about it because an officer didn't see it and it was on private property.  I reported an assault.  A cop called me back and said, "if we didn't see it then it didn't happen".  Huh?

I have lived in Atlanta (downtown of the city proper), Dallas, near NYC, and have spent considerable time in places like Houston and SF.  Florida is the only place where I've been assaulted, threatened, had property stolen, had vandalism, victim of arson, etc.  And I lived in parts of the state off the radar that were thought of as "safe".

After what happened in New York, we can count on crime reporting to continue to drop.  No one wants to die at the hands of the police when they might have even a slim chance at resolving the situation in their favor on their own.

I concur. Presenting anecdotal evidence as proof is a crime against logic and reason, but am I going to report you scofflaws?

Real journalism is pretty much dead.
Just like most forms of real science, and running the country.

Pretty much a crapshoot....just toss something out and see what happens.

We are Idiocracy.

Ow.....my balls.....
