I thought the whole time someone was in that bit at the top, but it doesn't appear so, and I hope I'm right. Crazy. I still don't understand what the hell is going on in the video though.

It was a planned demolition so they could install a new crane.  There were ruts scooped out at the end of the tracks, the stops were removed, and the tugs pushed the crane to the back so it would topple.

I forget where the video came from, but it's been around a while.  It wasn't an accident, which is why you have that great shot from a second camera as it hits the ground.

Gotcha, thanks!

Obviously staged.

Yep.. The perfectly HD camera placed ground level in the crash zone was the giveaway it was probably done on purpose.

hmm, well the crane bears some similarity in shape to the 'recognizer' enemy ships in tron

So, the first 30 second is the crane backing up. The last 3 seconds is the crane falling over. Golf clap to the editor. The suspense was killing me.

....now to watch the grass grow.

Yep, you'll never get that half a minute back...

/The average human lifetime has  37,869,120 minutes
//Considering how fast people are willing give up an extra 7 to 15 when they hit the snooze button, I'm sure the loss of half of one will not prevent you from achieving any of your goals.
///Unless you decided to watch this video instead of running that race when the starter pistol went off.

Yes, but that article makes one big false assumption that the wage of your time ($10 an hour) somehow magically stops when you stop to do something.

Does your company dock your pay for every second your not actively working? Like say when you are off work on a sunday surfing fark to relieve boredom.

Money is nothing more than a collective fantasy, it is only worth something because we all agree it is. There is no actual value there. All non consumable currencies are just middle men of a system of trading and bartering.

/By non consumable I mean money that has no direct quality we need to stay alive.  Some people in the world are still payed by getting room, board and food and the Romans payed their soldiers in salt which was a valuable resource back then used for food preservation.

Remake?

No, that was from the "Making of" documentary for the original TRON movie.

They later made it look all computer-generated in post-production.

That went too well to be a controlled demolition.

You can see a spark from a wire in the foreground that gets stretched right before it goes over.  Maybe a primacord?

definitely thermite in use there. Also wasn't the DHS acting out a "scenario" drill that same day that called for exactly this catastrophe to occur?

I liked how that cable shot out at the last moments, like the lash from a Balrog's whip.

The Grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture clusters of information as they moved through the computer. What did they look like? Ships? motorcycles? Were the circuits like freeways? I kept dreaming of a world I thought I'd never see. And then, one day...

It means Trace On  It was abreviated to fit on the Bottom of the screen with alot of other commands in GWBasic, It was used as a character name in the move "TRON" as the character was performing a trace of information.
