Well, Ted is a more than a bit of a loon. Otherwise, who cares? Siblings often don't agree

If Ted were in my family, well, he would be exactly like so many of the people in my family that I don't need to finish this thought.

TFA: The NRA has it wrong: Irresponsible gun owners are bad for everyone. If you shouldn't have access to a gun, then there should be no way for you to access a gun! Can anyone argue with that?

Not intelligently.

Does anyone have the right to drive a car without first obtaining a license? Better yet, try buying a car without a driver's license. Car companies know it is good for the auto industry to make cars safer and get dangerous drivers off the road.

Oh great, we get to rehash this argument. AGAIN.

I'm out.

My policy of not giving a fark about what celebrities think also applies to their families.

I believe strongly that expanding and improving mandatory background checks will keep a lot of people who aren't entitled to Second Amendment rights from having easy access to guns. As of today, a convicted felon can find a gun show or a private seller and buy a firearm without a background check. That loophole should be closed. Every gun transaction must include a thorough background check. Why would responsible gun owners want to protect people who threaten not only our safety but our gun rights?

Perfectly sensible. Who said that again?

*rechecks*

Wow, it's like watching Devito and Schwartzeneggar all over again.

Once upon a time, I was an NRA member. Back then, they were all about responsible gun ownership, and were in favor of universal background checks. Now they're deeply concerned about infringements upon the rights of people like James Holmes and Adam Lanza to own firearms. I guess the lobbying money was too good to turn away. Shame.

My favorite commenter is the guy who won't shut up about how Ted deserve to have equal time to Jeff, or it's typical left-wing claptrap.  As though we don't hear from Ted on a constant basis.

As far as qualifications, according to Jeff, he's also a member of the NRA and served with the Army's MP and artillery units.

Whereas Ted was so afraid to go to Vietnam he not only shat himself, he later bragged about it.

Considering the fact that we won't really allow any mechanism for citizens with mental health problems to be registered themselves, what point is there of a background check?  Every one of the last significant rampage shooters was mentally ill, and that type of thing isn't permitted to be on any form of national registry.  So show me how this would have prevented the last 5 rampage killers.

Of course, whenever someone who writes an article that isn't hardcore wingnut crazy (I don't want to say the Democrat side or the liberal side because if there's one thing that's gotten universal support across the country, it's background checks) then the side that is should have an entire network, five pundits, three congressmen, six nationally syndicated radio shows, and four local radio shows.

Doesn't that seem fair?  Only someone who hates the First Amendment wouldn't think that's fair...and YOU don't hate the Constitution, do you?

Yes, those low level shiatwads crave power whenever they can get it.  I work with them.  Oh wait, I am one of them.  Yes they are shiatwads, and I am lumped into that category.  Have you even seen the office politics of a government agency.  Egads brain.  This is the shiat that blows the mind.

That's the bleakly funny part of all this.  By objecting to background checks the NRA is, in a very roundabout way, lobbying for criminals and mentally unstable people to have access to firearms.

Ted Nugent IS a celebrity, whether we like it or not. He has a following and a pretty core base of fans who don't give two shiats about his politics, as long as he plays the guitar. People know who he is and I'm sure he gets recognized in airports. In my mind, for better or worse (worse, btw), that constitutes a celebrity.

Yep. He has such a huge following that Ted couldn't get higher up on the bill than opening act for REO Speedwagon and Styx. In 2011.

Guess they're laying low until the much anticipated Damn Yankees reunion.

We also listen to the 85% of Americans and majority of NRA members who say that background checks increase security without compromising our 2nd Amendment rights.  Jeff was also in the military (and currently an NRA member) and don't forget, Ted was so afraid to go to Vietnam that he literally shiat himself.

And let's not act like Ted doesn't get a ridiculous amount of airtime simply by yelling threats against Hillary Clinton and Obama and saying extreme things about guns.

And finally, don't forget that Breitbart.com flew to Africa just to get Obama's half-brother (or whatever) that he's never met to say negative things about him.

It's was Dinesh D'Souza actually, of National Review fame. Also I think that Obama had met his half-brother once or twice. Still didn't stop that sleaszebag from trying to get negative quotes out of the half-brother.

My mistake.  The point is that a GOP-supporter complaining about "Who cares, it's just a relative" doesn't hold water.

Especially when it comes from Michael Reagan, David Limbaugh, Luke Russert, or Peter Doocy.

That makes me laugh so hard.  Republicans - any semi-celebrity that's pro their point of view they instantly start orally satisfying, doesn't matter how obscure or washed-up.   "Oh, some famous guy believes one of our retarded hair-brained ideas - we love him! or her!"

//remember Charlie Daniels, Ted Nugent, blonde crazy chick from SNL, Angelina Jolie's dad,... guess that's about it!
