It's too bad Freeney really hurt his ankle last year. I'd have loved to have seen him fully effective in a 3-4 hybrid defense. His stats look bad from the last few years because of the injury and teams running so much on the Colts, but he is still pressuring the QB when given the opportunity.

Barring more injuries, Freeney could probably play as a spot/specialty pass rusher for another 5 years easy in this league. I wouldn't want him to do anything else, but I'd love him on my team for maybe 20 snaps on obvious passing downs.

He'd be really effective in that role, especially if he wasn't double or triple teamed on plays.

In a 3-4 Defense - Im not sure - Freeney depends on his freak athleticism in a 4-3 scheme to rush the passer so in a 3-4 and not being a freak athlete anymore im not sure this is the case - but then again ive been very very wrong before

Yeah, I probably should have specified he'd be ideal as a spot pass rusher in a 4 down lineman set in particular. That way there's no BS and trying to teach him new schemes or responsibilities...just unleash his outside speed rush on third downs.

McCoy said that they would adapt the scheme a bit and they were never a strict 3-4 team. He'll have his chances as a 4-3 DE with his hand in the dirt.

Pagano has run both 3-4 and 4-3 defenses, and with the depth they've been building up for the rest of the D line I'm sure they can find ways to make Freeney look even better than he is.

The Chargers could have a very interesting year, either good or bad, this upcoming season.  Right now they have a few obvious gaps on their roster, but not as many as they did at this time last year.

I can't decide which of those two possibilities is more absurd.

It's cute when Chargers fans have hope. Barring injury at best you're a wild card and there's little chance they get past NE or Houston, let alone Denver.  That said, I wouldn't mind putting $5-$10 on SD to win the division if Peyton gets flattened and it comes down to the last few weeks.

/Because let's face it, the Chiefs couldn't find their dicks with both hands
//And the Raiders need at least 2 more years before they can think of being good.

It's always better when Dolt fans build up their hopes before the season. At least we have their bitter collapse to keep us warm for another year.
