The best way to win is to stop pissing money into that shiathole. Get our troops out, our equipment out, and let the locals slaughter eachother all they want. It's a waste of time and lives and money. It's always been a waste of time and lives and money. It will never, ever, EVER be anything but a waste of time and lives and money.

Take our toys and men and cash and gtfo, giving them the finger on the way out.

Karimi may be right that the Afghan army will hold the center of the country, and that the Taliban are no longer taking over and holding large sections of Afghanistan.

Or he might be full of shiat.
Just declare victory and get the fark out.

By all means. Please. That would be amusing, to say the least.

Meh. They don't deserve to be nuked because Bush is an asshole and started 2 vietnams at once for Haliburton.

Step 6: Buildings start getting blown up in NYC again
Step 7: John Stewart blames the attacks on the Bush Administration, saying they "abandoned" Afghanistan to the Taliban just like Reagan did

If the war in Afghanistan really was vital to our national security then a handful of deaths would not be described as horrific.  The fact that the writer describes the casualty toll as horrific indicates a lack of support for the war by the general public.  We just need to bring the troops home ASAP.  Continuing on the current path is pointless.

Thank god those guys from Saudi Arabia that blew up the WTC have been tracked back to Afghanistan and Iraq and thwarted completely.

Wait, wut?

Most people fail to grasp this concept and the all or nothing game the parties have been playing for over a millennium. They will sort it out after we leave I'm sure...

Look, any war that has gone on longer than WW2 is too long. Besides, the objectives the US wants to compel aren't military ones, but political and economic ones.

I'm OK with that...maybe they can break the "Graveyard of Empires" curse.

No downside for us, really.

Step 1: re-define state-sponsored terrorism as a WMD, alongside nukes, bioweapons, and nerve gas
Step 2: re-affirm our policy of using nukes in response to all of the above
Step 3: see who's gut the guts to pull another 9/11 on us.
Step 4: if they do, well, we won't be risking any ground troops...

Play to your strengths, not your enemy's strengths.

What's the problem? Supplying one side in Afghanistan with arms, training and money has always worked out well before.

Well, you started strong and then went to full on DERP.

There are three elected parts of American government. The House, the Senate, and the White House.

Since 2006, the Democrats have controlled at least two and sometimes three of those.

They could have refused to fund this war at any time over the past seven years, and there was nothing the Republicans could have done to stop it.

That's leaving aside the fact that the Republicans didn't have the votes to pass the AUMF that started all this bullshiat in the first place.

Ahh, yes, the smell of butt-hurt and arrogance rolled up in to one.  I gotta give it to the libs on this one; only your camp can pull this mixture of so well.  When conservatives start going on about morality I just roll my eyes and ignore it.  There is a special kind of substance to liberalpompousness that differentiates itself from a conservative.  A conservative I feel can be, over time and with evidence, reasoned with and talked down to a reasonable POV.  You sir, are the type of person that thinks they have already made that voyage and under no circumstances, no matter how much patience shown, can not be budged from your intellectual superiority perch.  No matter how wrong you are, you feel as though you are "the enlightened one" and by simple virtue can't be wrong, and that, that is the reason I would punch you in the dick
