Jan told me it was George Glass.

22.) He looks like Rachel Maddow's older sister.

23.) He just sounds like an Ira.

The Mrs and I love him.  His show was the first podcast I subscribed to.

I can watch him on video, but his voice makes me all stabby on the radio.  I frequently have to turn off TAL if he doesn't interrupt his narrative with other people often enough.

It's not his fault - he just sounds exactly like some asshole college roommate I had 25 years ago.  It's that combination of calm and nasal that, ironically, enrages me.

So thanks, Gideon, you farking asshole.  You were such a jerk that now I can't listen to ira Glass.

Wow I thought some of the TFettes were sex-starved, but they can't hold a candle to ladyboner-popping' Jessica Meisener.

Still love the Glass.

Nobody doesn't like Ira Glass. But seriously, does he owe BuzzFeed $20 for that stroker?

Notabunny: Nobody doesn't like Ira Glass.

Speak for yourself.  He's insufferably boring.

I have no idea who the hell this guy is, but I figured this was a sponsored link, what with it having literally just the same headline as the article, and the article being the sort of thing you'd have to pay me to read.

2013-05-18 04:39:36 AM
I thought Fark.com had user-submitted headlines, but I guess I was wrong?

2013-05-18 04:43:40 AM
Who?

2013-05-18 04:44:24 AM
WTF? Why should I care?

Some reddit-style "this is what I like" thing only works to make me hate things I used to love.
Hipster douches are scum, but not even they can hurt my appreciation of NPR and PBS.

Too late. Died of drunken exposure.

/it gets cold in Arizona in January at night. Drink and go out in the cold? Tuck it in, it's over.

If you don't already know who Ira Glass is, you probably wouldn't like him.

2013-05-18 05:27:33 AM
never heard of him

2013-05-18 05:44:57 AM
And so the decline of Fark continues.

I got burnt out on This American Life some time ago. The formula got to me. About the only thing i could stand about it after a while was Ira.

However, some comic-drawing lady considers him her worst ex boyfriend.

Over-rated, sure, but I wouldn't go so far as stupid.

I think subby and author should just sleep with Ira and get it over with.

I liked a quote from Ira that I heard over a year ago, but this is a little too much creepy kinda love.  The kind of love I expect from teeny bopper sites about Justin Beiber or Robert Pattison.

I was momentarily channeling my younger self from the time I was forced to read it in school and I really didn't like it.

Ira Glass isn't even the most perfect man on This American Life.

2013-05-18 07:02:49 AM
I hate Ira Guass from This American Guife. How do so many people with speech impediments get into broadcasting?

*Slowly raises hand* Sorry, can't stand his oration style. Too nasally and I just can't stand his voice for some reason.

I personally love the way he pronounces "Button" when they're doing their annual donation drive.

2013-05-18 07:23:04 AM
I find the cadence of he and all of his cohosts on that show to be obnoxious and smarmy.  I like the stories and find them interesting, but their pacing is just... pedantic and vaguely condescending.  It's aggressively metrosexual.

This American Life......is depressing.    I like the stories, but if I listen to them too often I start getting depressed.

I like Ira Glass Ok, but I wish they would stop playing his story about being a Christmas Elf at macy's every year.  Sheesh.   Enough already.

I don't even now who he is, but he kind of sounds like the cilantro of radio broadcasting.

I. Hate. Buzzfeed. And thankfully I have passed this hatred onto my wife who now doesn't understand how a site, who just makes random lists with other people's pictures, is allowed to be a thing.

kid_icarus: I personally love the way he pronounces "Button" when they're doing their annual donation drive.

I love the way Julie Douglas from Stuff To Blow The Mind podcast says 'cookie'.
It makes me want to eat something, something that I don't think is a cookie.

Blech.  Reading her screeching reminiscence makes me want to date her so I can have a turn breaking up with her.

Does NPR use some sort of weird audio filter on all their microphones?  I can't place it, but there's something just.... not right about it.  I can't listen to NPR because of it.

Ayn Rand's Social Worker: I find the cadence of he and all of his cohosts on that show to be obnoxious and smarmy.  I like the stories and find them interesting, but their pacing is just... pedantic and vaguely condescending.  It's aggressively metrosexual.

The worst thing about the show is how they all copy each other's delivery. Do they even know they're doing it?

Girion47: This American Life......is depressing.    I like the stories, but if I listen to them too often I start getting depressed.

I think that's the idea. There's a bleak, documentarian pose behind it all. They're deathly afraid they might come off cutesy. They end up having to put every story into the same groove.

PanicMan: Does NPR use some sort of weird audio filter on all their microphones?  I can't place it, but there's something just.... not right about it.  I can't listen to NPR because of it.

Honest reply:

It may just be that other radio personalities have a tendency to turn their bass way up. The reason why NPR sounds funny is because they *aren't* futzing with the mix as much as your normal Morning Zoo Crew.

2013-05-18 08:09:42 AM
This American Life is, essentially, Jerry Springer for the NPR crowd.  It is exploitative and manipulative of many of the people on the program.  And Ira Glass needs to take vocal lessons.  I, honestly, have no idea how someone who enunciates so poorly has a job on radio.

Came for Lynda Barry, leaving satisfied.
