I don't watch much TV with the wife.

I don't watch much TV at all.

I suppose for some the tube is a great thing to build a relationship around.

My wife and I don't like the same shows. She doesn't care if I watch all of my shows in one big chunk.

/ except when it interferes with getting work done

That's why he watches all his shows on a laptop. But there's no commercials in torrents so he's a higher level being and probably smells like fresh cinnamon rolls.

I discovered a fun game you can play with Netflix a couple of weekends ago while the wife was away and I was free to watch the dark, depressing sh*t I love so much: Watch "Fish Tank" and "Tyrannosaur" back to back and try to see if you can keep from killing yourself.

2013-05-17 03:44:02 PM
I never run into this problem.

1. I don't watch TV, so I don't care if you watch all of the shows before I get home from work.
2. I don't have Netflix so my queue is always empty
3. I don't have a girlfriend so there's no one to argue with.

This is why we have separate logins, and two TVs. And phones. And computers.

If it's a big deal, like watching Downton Abby or Doctor Who, we'll plan to watch it together, ahead of time.

We rarely run into this problem.  There are shows we watch together at night, then there are shows that she watches on her own - like the 7,000 crime docu-dramas she loves so much.

Then there are shows that I'll tell myself I'm going to watch if I ever get free time but never do.

Guilty.  I did that with basically a whole season of "The League" because he wasn't around and I was bored.

There's no pron on Netflix. Prove me wrong, Farkers. Prove me wrong.

Her: You like those cartoons. Why don't you watch your little cartoons?

Me: because as soon as I do, you get on that damn cell phone. I can't hear my 'little cartoons'.

Her: I won't. Go ahead. You need to relax.

Me: Okay (Click)

Her: Hello! Naw. He's watching those cartoons on the netty flix. I honestly don't see what he sees in those things. They look like they were drawn by kids.

Me: (Click)

Her: Why'd you turn your cartoons off?

Me: You were on your cell phone. Talking to your idiot friend.

Her: I was? She must have called.

Me: Forget it. I'm going to listen to music and read on my Nook. (headphones) (click) Adventure Time!

We don't use netflix because paying for tv is stupid, that's what the webternetz is for, right?

Anyway, my girl and I have a pretty good system, she watches her shows while I'm at work, we watch the shows we have in common in the evening and I watch my shows when she falls asleep on me at roughly nine p.m. Works good.

2013-05-17 03:53:13 PM
I loaded up every device the wife has including her alarm clock (Sony Dash, older version) so she could watch netflix without me. Our tastes in movies are different. The teenager and I have the same low taste in movies. The wife is a part time film critic and author.

The bigger problem we have is that I've "ruined" her suggestions.  I.E.  Netflix looks at the stuff we've both watched and has far more suggestions for my list (cartoons, action shows, etc.) than for hers (dramas).

Also a problem?  "Hm, I'd totally watch that . . . but I don't want to explain to my wife why it's in the Netflix 'Recently watched' list."

No problemo, I'm usually in that kind of mood.  Having to watch an entire episode of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," though, would definitely make me hungry for a shotgun.

Seriously, what a farked-up culture.
