See, the thing is, Christianity has this Christianity has this commandment against adultery. It makes baby Jesus cry. So you (not you, him) can't say that and be a Good Christian.

Also, you can't be for adultery and against teh ghey. Well, you can, but then you're a hypocrite. And a bad bad Christian.

Christians will allow me to wear a miniskirt.  There's consequences for the slutty skirt, but I have free will and simply need to acknowledge my responsibilty in the whole 'I got raped" thing.

sensationalist headline is sensationalist, but whatever gets greenlights, eh subs?

Not that I'm saying the man isn't a total tool, but if the woman he was talking to was willing to move on from the misadventures, she should make the effort to show the man was forgiven.  I don't condone cheating, but I have seen friends marriages get salvaged after a cheat and they continued to live and move on and love each other.

2013-05-17 03:31:09 PM
Jesus totally said that!

Oh wait, no, actually he said the exact opposite!

"You have heard that it was said, 'Do not commit adultery.' 28 But I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to desire her has already committed adultery with her in his heart. 29 If your right eye causes you to sin, tear it out and throw it away! It is better to lose one of your members than to have your whole body thrown into hell. 30 If your right hand causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it away! It is better to lose one of your members than to have your whole body go into hell (Matthew 5:27-30)

Matthew must have just forgot to write down the part where it was the wife's fault.

Doesn't that feel good?

Acting like an animal and eating raw meat when you are starving is also in your DNA.  So is getting fat, going bald and uneven breasts.

I expect a pastor and religious leader to think less worldly than he has been lately.  Old guys who can't remember when they last had a sex drive should be admonishing people to stop giving in to their animal instincts and act like a human.

iccky: It is better to lose one of your members than to have your whole body thrown into hell.

Every time I hear that verse I wonder "Who has more than one member?"

Which then brings this to mind:

Said the nubileyoung woman from Natchez
Who by chance was born with two snatches
"I'd give anything
for just one little fling
with a man whose equipment matches."

Deep Contact: That's why it takes a village. No one knows who the father is.

That's how some tribes handled it. I just read a book that had some great detail about the social culture of Tahiti before European discovery. The people there "married" in pairs, but there was also a good bit of what we would now call swinging. Adults would have parties where they could pair off in other combinations.  If a woman became pregnant and could not establish paternity or get one of the men in the group to claim the child, it was often killed. Infanticide horrified the European explorers, but to the Tahitians is was a necessary thing for the survival of the group. An unsupported child would probably die soon anyway.

I sympathize, because it's encoded in my DNA to kick dumbasses like Pat Robertson in the balls so hard that there's no chance that they'll reproduce and pollute the gene pool any further.

I know I shouldn't. I've been socialized to treat stupid people with compassion, and not to kick them in the balls, despite the primal urge I feel to do it.

But there Pat Robertson is. Such an alluring dumbass. Just saying his dumbass shiat all over the place, on TV for christsake (where kids can watch him!) He's just such a... perfect dumbass... I just find myself fantasizing about how great it would be to kick him in the balls... how much relief I'd feel...

I control myself though. It helps that I don't run into dumbasses like him often in my daily life. Around here most of the dumbasses and decent, and cover up their dumbassedness around others.

But really, suppose I saw Pat Robertson walking down the street and he said one of his dumbass things right to my face and I kicked him in the balls. Whose fault would that be? Mine or his? I think he takes at least some of the blame.

sorry couldn't help myself.  Saying it can't be controlled is a total cop out.  Just own it I say.  Tiger Woods is a prime example, I would have way more respect for him if he'd have just come out and said "I'm sorry, but I like tang, apparently more so than I like marriage.  Also I'm a bit of an asshole, but that's me, deal with it."

Trying the whole "i have an addiction waaaah" made him look like a douche, to me anyway.

Well, given that the member responsible for the impure thoughts is your noggin, I'd say it advocates decapitation of the larger head.  or the heart, he does mention that specifically.  Both are tough to recover from.

fireclown: Heck, I'm just glad to hear him admit that DNA actually exists.   It's progress, of a sort.

Well sure, it's the blueprint of God's Intelligent Design.

And Robertson will tell you that it's in Man's DNA to rape as a result of O-riginal Sin. Adam did not have this in his DNA until he ate of the Fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil which mutated his DNA and thus sin entered the world, all the way down the line to YOU, wretched, foul, loathsome sinner.

And of course, as we all know, Woman did tempt Man in the Garden, so ultimately it's all her fault.
