Damn.
Beside the whole "avoiding drowning" thing, what kind of G-load did the little pussycat endure?

Everyone loves a really clean pussy.

Whatever.  I'm tired.

For starters, that kitteh looks like a little bitty hyena...

I hate when that happens. One time I accidentally put my kitty in the dryer, but she came out better than ever. I even have a picture of the event:

I can't believe no one has posted a pict of what a cat coming out of a washer might look like...

Thankfully I don't have a washer and dryer yet. However my friend has a kitty that enjoys sleeping on the clothing basket. One day she delayed turning on the dryer with clothing in it. The kitty decided to hop on in and take a snooze.

You can see where this is going... yeah the kitty went through a couple tumbles in the dryer. Mostly intact.

Torties have an EXTRA 9 lives. They're generally to cranky to actually die and just burst into flames spontaneously when they're 21 or so (RIP my lovely torties Vivian and Bailey, who are gone but never forgotten).

Had a cat go a few tumbles in the dryer - he didn't fair so well.  We think he hit his head while he was tumbling and got a brain injury.  He acted decidedly different for a couple of days afterward, then just disappeared.

//We were very sad.
//But we learned to check the inside of the dryer for cats before we turn it on.

She clearly can't wash clothes let alone take care of a live animal - so why was the kitten returned to her?

I think the reason that this got greenlit was because the mod wanted to link a headline that started with the words "Soggy Moggy".

Spin kitty ... Gollum with owner Lauren Gavin

Gollum, huh?  That's a fitting name.

Oh, never mind, it's the cat's name.

I'm really surprised it lived.

My ex's cat somehow got into his clothes dryer without him noticing, was trapped inside as the machine was operated, and was killed.

Damn shame, too. She looks like she'd be quite attractive if she lost half her weight.
Oh well.  Such is modern life.

bearded clamorer: Front load washer?
Damn.

Depends entirely on the washer and 'soil level'. Lordfortuna splurged on a set of LG front loaders that use a fraction of the water and soap; if it was one of those running a light load I could see the kitty surviving relatively unscathed (although the spin cycle is CRAZY fast).

Dryers, not so much. I think the heat as much as the tumbling would be very very bad for them.

Well, that's good to know (about the extra 9 lives). I have a tortie. She's very cute... and cranky.

Cat-vs-dryer is a classic.

Cats are notorious for sneaking into enclosed spaces, even with you right there, and then hiding from you.

It only takes a few seconds to check a clothes dryer for cats.

/Just feel around inside for teeth or claws sinking into your arm.

My MIL has a tortie who is not cranky at all though. She was born a barn cat and has always been skittish, but she LOVES attention and seeks me out when I am visiting since they kind of ignore her.

And now I have to wonder if there is either a diminishment of extra kitteh lives or if it remains the same when you end up with a dilute torbie :D  (Ashe the Meezerkin would--had she not gotten the Meezer Genes--have ended up as a torbie, or a tortoiseshell tabby.  It tends to become rather more apparent in summer when the bits of faintest orange come out in the faint grey where she has markings.)

(Which of course leads to some interesting speculations on her parentage--we know her mom was a Meezer of some sort, her pa was a semiferal tom in my sister-in-law's neighbourhood, and her brothers (Ashe was the only female in the litter) tend to have tricolour markings not unlike Japanese bobtails and particularly the famous "beckoning cat" statuary...pretty much with the boys it's obvious there is some chimerism going on (rather like the very famous "two-face" kitty whose face is half black and half ginger--pretty dramatic example of chimerism in kitties) but now I have to wonder where the tortie or ginger is in Mom's ancestry :D)

I'm rather hoping for "even Meezer-diluted tortieness is still tortiness and thus Bonus Kitteh Lives", because Ashe is quite affectionate...and, well...I don't quite agree with the SO's sentiment about her intelligence because I HAVE seen intelligence where access to Me and/or Food is involved, but if there is such a thing as feline ADHD she does have a touch of it and then some to the point she is pretty obviously ditzy at times :D

From the 30 minute time span, I'd say none, and it wasn't even the full wash cycle.

Front loaders in the UK are mostly cold fill only, so a full cycle for everyday clothes takes about an hour and a half.

I'm thinking she realised something was wrong and opened the washer way before the wash was done.

What kind of asshole closes the laundry BEFORE checking for the whereabouts of the kitty?

Oh, that's right...some stupid, clueless heifer.

Don't worry, cow, you'll kill that kitty soon enough with your stupidity.

/thank you for not breeding
