Kibbler: CSB. I know a certain slacker, who could have had college paid for him, and he could be starting a career now, but he decided that things like learning and work were too much...work...anyway, the only job he held down in the first two years after high school was working part-time, for money under the table, for a Chinese joint that made deliveries. I was pretty sure, based on his past arrest record, and his very close brush with a long prison term, and his unwillingness to describe what he did other than, "You know, just stuff, whatever they need" that there were illegal things going on, and I suspected that it was drugs. Then the owner of the business suddenly disappeared one day. It came out that he fled the country and went to Hong Kong. Never heard anything definite, but I'm pretty sure this dumbass slacker, who if arrested would have had pending felonies come back on top of the new ones, and would have spent ten years in prison, was delivering drugs. Probably making what seemed like a lot of money to him, probably thinking, yeah, this is the life, good cash and I don't even have to work for it. I can sleep until noon, which is my life goal. What are the odds I'll get busted? Just because the local police have arrested me before, and the court has told me, you're now on our list, we're going to nail you again, and there won't be any "second chance" programs when we do.He was a part of my ongoing adult education: some people are too stupid to know not to keep sticking their burned finger into the candle flame. Some people feel a bullet whiz right by their ear, and the best reaction they can do is grin and continue to dance in the line of fire.Sometimes, you have to write people off as complete losses.
